“The sensationalism of this election has rendered many other important issues invisible,” PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said in a statement to Us Weekly. “We hope this twist in our approach will cause people to open their minds to the crisis facing animals, and open their home to a beautiful cat from a shelter. “

The nonpartisan ads feature an adorable sleepy kitty with the slogan above him in red, white and blue. The campaign will debut in Manhattan sometime before Election Day on Tuesday, November 8, to urge people to consider taking home one of the 20,000 felines that are brought into NYC’s shelters every year.

Trump’s shocking comments made headlines after The Washington Post obtained footage of the Republican presidential nominee bragging about how he uses his celebrity status to make moves on women. “You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything,” he told then Access Hollywood host Bush. “Grab them by the p–sy. You can do anything.”

The former Apprentice host, 70, has since brushed it off as guy talk during the second presidential debate and subsequent interviews. “This was locker-room banter, a private conversation that took place many years ago,” he said in a statement. “Bill Clinton has said far worse to me on the golf course — not even close. I apologize if anyone was offended.”
