It's been a week since Maksim Chmerkovskiy proposed to girlfriend Peta Murgatroyd on stage in Miami, but the Dancing With the Stars lovebirds are already planning their wedding.
The couple's nuptials will take place in Los Angeles, the bride-to-be told Entertainment Tonight on Friday, December 11. She added that while they haven't set a date yet, the nuptials will be "big!" and she's taking charge of all the details.
"I'm happy with that," the 29-year-old New Zealand native said. "I want to do it all. I'm cool with that."
And as for the groom's responsibilities? "He can just sit there and turn up for the big day."
But the Dancing With the Stars pro might want to take advantage of Chmerkovskiy's ninja-like planning skills — he pulled out all the stops to surprise her with his romantic proposal, which took place after the pair performed in Sway: A Dance Trilogy at the Olympia Theater in Miami on December 5.
Chmerkovskiy, 35, told ET that he masterminded the whole thing, including designing Murgatroyd's custom Cantamessa diamond engagement ring, and he didn't reveal his plans to anyone, not even his parents.
"I decided not to say anything to anybody. No mom, no dad," the former Dancing With the Stars pro said. "I also wanted it to be kind of like a surprise for everybody. Everybody had an amazing moment that was very unforgettable. And things like this need to be unforgettable. It needs to be special. But I told her I'm not planning anything else! I'm done."
But there was someone Chmerkovskiy did share his secret with at the very last minute — his brother and current DWTS pro Val Chmerkovskiy.
"I found out a half hour before he did that," Val said of his brother's proposal. "During intermission of our show, he started showing me the ring, and I bugged out."
The newly engaged couple first dated for 10 months in 2012 and 2013 and rekindled their romance earlier this year, but Val told ET that their engagement was "long overdue."
"We love Peta," he added. "She's been a part of the family for a long time. I'm just glad that now it's official."
