Rainbow Appears Over Pulse Nightclub After Tragic Orlando Massacre

Forever in our hearts. A rainbow appeared over Pulse nightclub in Orlando on Tuesday, June 14, two days after gunman Omar Mateen killed 49 and injured 53 others during what’s become known as the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.

“Heading to the gym (located two blocks from Pulse) and this rainbow is hanging over the nightclub ❤️ #OrlandoStrong,” one local tweeted on Tuesday, while another added on Twitter: “Looked like it was coming out of pulse nightclub!!! #OrlandoStrong #OrlandoUnite.” (A rainbow also appeared over Prince’s Paisley Park studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota, just hours after his death on Thursday, April 21.)

As previously reported, Mateen, 29, opened fire inside the club early Sunday morning and pledged allegiance to terrorist group ISIS.

According to a new report from NBC News on Tuesday, his wife, Noor Mateen, told FBI that she was with him when he purchased ammunition and a weapon holster. She also allegedly admitted to having driven Mateen to the venue prior to the tragedy because “he wanted to scope it out.”

His ex-wife, Sitora Yusufiy, and her fiancé, Marco Dias, told a Brazilian TV station on Monday that Mateen had “homosexual tendencies.”

While speaking to CNN on Monday, Yusufiy said that when she married Mateen, he “confessed to me about his past” and that it was a “side of him or a part of him that he lived but probably didn’t want everybody to know about.”

Mateen’s dad, Sediqque, has since denied that his son was gay. “There is no way he was homosexual; he was not brought up that way,” Sediqque told the Mirror. “I will not have it. He was not gay.

Mateen died during a shoot-out with police Sunday.
