Former child star Ricky Schroder has a message for Charlie Kirk’s alleged shooter, Tyler Robinson, amid his court hearing.
“Tyler, son, you can do the right thing now,” Schroder, 56, said in a Wednesday, July 8, Instagram video. “You can ask for forgiveness after you confess, and I think that is what is in your best interest is to confess to what you’ve done and whoever helped you and plead for forgiveness in this.”
Robinson, 23, was arrested late last year in connection to the assassination of conservative commentator Kirk. (Kirk was shot and killed during a speaking engagement in September 2025. He was 31.)
Robinson, who was charged with aggravated murder, has not yet entered a plea. Schroder, for his part, was even present in the courtroom during one day of Robinson’s preliminary hearing earlier this month.
While issuing a message to Robinson via social media, Schroder implored the defendant to apologize to “the lord Jesus” and Kirk’s family for his actions. (Charlie is survived by his parents, his wife, Erika Kirk, and their two children.)

“You can still do good with your life,” Schroder stated. “That would be the best thing you can do is not put your parents and the world through this charade. … You can unite us in this horrible act you’ve done, and maybe, just maybe you’ll be shown some mercy. In that mercy, there’s a blessing for you and a blessing for everybody from this tragedy.”
Schroder further urged Robinson to “consider this request.”
“In the holy name of Jesus Christ, Tyler, I prayed for you last night and your family. How could you possibly take such [a] tragedy that happened, you’ve caused, and make it better for everybody?” the actor said. “The only thing that I can come up with is to confess, plead for mercy and, with the rest of your life, serve the Lord. I hope you hear this, Tyler, [and] I hope somebody close to you brings it to you.”
Schroder and his wife, Julie Trammel, traveled to Provo, Utah, to sit in the gallery of Robinson’s hearing on Monday, July 6.
“We just wanted to lend our support to the Kirk family and remember Charlie and what he stood for,” Schroder said in a Monday social media video, urging individuals to show his family respect following their loss. “You can have a difference of opinion without being so damn mean. … May this trial for Charlie go well and the truth is revealed and all the lies disposed of, and may his murderer be held accountable. We thank you Lord for Charlie and his legacy.”
