Hollywood’s best-kept secret? Ryan Reynolds jokingly stated that he’s never met his wife, Blake Lively, during his appearance on the Today show on Thursday, December 12.
The 6 Underground star, 43, was asked by host Craig Melvin how Lively, 32, felt about his consistent online trolling against her.
“Well, I actually, I’ve never met her,” Reynolds replied. “We actually only exist as a couple online. It’s manufactured by the studio system, and it’s worked out pretty well for us, really. I’m actually married to a woman named Louise in Denmark. We have four kids, and it’s been amazing!”
In real life, the couple met while filming the 2010 film Green Lantern. He revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly’s SiriusXM show in 2016 that the pair first got acquainted while on double dates with other people.
“We went on a double date. She was on a date with another guy, and I was on a date with another girl — and that was, like, the most awkward date for the respective parties because we were just like fireworks coming across,” the actor said at the time.
The pair went on to exchange vows in September 2012 and are now the parents of daughters James, 4, and Inez, 3. Us Weekly exclusively revealed that the couple welcomed their third child in October. A source told Us on Wednesday, December 11, that the new family of four “are doing great.”
Lively and Reynolds are known for their light-heartened relationship, which they frequently share with their social media followers. Reynolds celebrated his wife’s birthday in 2017 by posting a photo of Lively with the actress cropped out. The A Simple Favor star got her revenge when she posted a photo of Reynolds and Ryan Gosling — with her husband cut out — for the Just Friends star’s birthday in October the same year. “Happy birthday, baby,” Lively captioned the picture.
Reynolds continued the social media antics when he posted a hilarious tribute for the Gossip Girl alum’s 32nd birthday via Instagram in August.
“Happy birthday @blakelively,” he captioned a series of photos that featured Lively out of frame or with her eyes closed.
