Grunge meets glam!
Known for rocking tailored pieces and gorgeous gowns, Kendall Jenner is giving her wardrobe a dose of edge as the new face of Calvin Klein Jeans. Following in the footsteps of Kate Moss and Mark Wahlberg, the blossoming model talked about her rise in the fashion world in V magazine’s issue #95, photographed by Steven Klein.
“You have no idea how many doors closed on me and how many adults were either initially reluctant to take a chance working with me or who outright laughed at me behind my back,” the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 19, revealed. “It was kind of hard because all I was doing was going on go-sees, trying my best to break into this business as a teenager.”
Even with guidance from top designers including Marc Jacobs, Riccardo Tisci, and Karl Lagerfeld, Jenner learned her most fruitful survival tips at home. “My parents taught me that work ethic is one of the most important keys in life, and I believe it,” Jenner said of mom Kris and dad Bruce.
In the black-and-white images, Jenner straddles the photographer’s dog while wearing a pair of unbuttoned jeans, a lingerie top, and high heels. “Everyone knows, he has the most incredibly beautiful Great Danes,” she said of Klein. “They’re huge and one of them even slightly bit my head, that’s how gigantic he was! My head’s okay though. All good!”
Jenner is most excited to see her denim campaign along the L.A. strip. “This will be my first billboard on Sunset, which I’m ecstatic about,” she explained. “It’s really humbling, and honestly, I am a pretty shy person, but being part of the Calvin campaign and seeing myself up there will be a dream come true.”
In fact, the catwalker plans to use every reason possible to make an impromptu visit. “I might have to eat every night at the Chateau Marmont with that hanging over my shoulder,” she said. “‘Oh yeah, that little thing? I didn’t notice!'”
