A woman who’s previously been banned from contacting Eminem was arrested after she allegedly visited the Detroit rapper’s Michigan home.
Nicole Gwen Savage, of Trenton, Michigan, was arraigned on an aggravated stalking charge at the 41B District Court in Clinton Township on Wednesday, October 28, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.
Savage, 46, went to Eminem’s residence on Tuesday, October 27, leading his security to call law enforcement, the prosecutor’s office said in a news release.
Authorities “took Savage into custody without incident,” the office said.
The visit violated an active injunctive order that prohibits Savage from contacting Eminem, also known as Marshall Mathers, according to prosecutors.
“Everyone deserves to feel safe in their own home and go about their daily lives without fear of being harassed or stalked,” Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said in a statement. “No one is exempt from these protections, regardless of their public profile or celebrity status.”
Eminem’s spokesman Dennis Dennehy didn’t immediately return a request for comment from Us on Friday, October 30.
If Savage is convicted of aggravated stalking, she’d face up to five years in prison.
During her arraignment, a judge “set Savage’s bond at $250,000 cash or surety only, no 10 percent option,” the prosecutor’s office said.
She’s been ordered to not contact Eminem, not possess weapons and stay in Michigan, according to prosecutors. She will also have to wear a GPS ankle monitor if she posts bail.
“Everyone in Detroit is a fan of Eminem, myself included,” Savage’s defense attorney, Thomas Quartz, said, per The Detroit News.
“However, there is always two sides to every story, and my client’s voice has yet to be heard,” Quartz added. “When it is, I truly believe the public will become a fan of hers or at the very least sympathize with her.”
According to court records viewed by the newspaper, Savage was previously charged with stalking in connection with a Clinton Township incident in August. She also reportedly faces a trespassing charge, which was filed in September.
Savage’s next court date in relation to the aggravated stalking charge has been set for November 9, according to prosecutors.
