Ben & Lauren’s Lauren Bushnell Reveals What Still Bothers Her About Fiance Ben Higgins and His ‘JoJo Situation’

Bachelor Nation was shocked when Ben Higgins said “I love you” to his final two women, Lauren Bushnell and JoJo Fletcher, in (to borrow a phrase from Chris Harrison) the most dramatic season of The Bachelor ever. Then life went on for everyone except Higgins and his now-fiancée, Bushnell, who argued over the confession during the following months, as seen on their new series, Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After?

After Fletcher, 25, claimed to not “know anything about” the couple’s Freeform spinoff during an appearance at Mohegan Sun Casino, Higgins and Bushnell opened up exclusively to Us Weekly on the intricacies of the love triangle.

“The most frustrating part is that it’s known as the ‘JoJo Situation,’” Bushnell, 26, admits. “She was involved, but I think no matter who was at the end, or whatever, and no matter what happened, it would’ve been really hard for me and Ben to move past.”

The travel and style blogger insists the problem wasn’t with Fletcher personally, but with the season 20 Bachelor, 28. “I did carry some resentment toward him, not with JoJo,” she explains. “I had such a hard time trying to understand and put myself in his shoes, and finally was like, ‘I will never understand. I will never be the Bachelor.’” (Bushnell then tacked on a quick, “Thankfully.”)

Honesty and acceptance were the main keys to moving on in their relationship, the flight attendant points out, as was meeting with Fletcher and her fiancé, Jordan Rodgers, for lunch. “I’m truly glad that we all sat down and went to lunch together,” Bushnell says. “I really am — I wish we would’ve done it months earlier.”

But the encounter wasn’t entirely seamless. “You know what I did size [Rodgers] up on?” Higgins revealed. “His hair is a lot nicer than mine and I was pissed walking out.” Unfortunately for him, his love agrees that the SEC sportscaster “has a nice head of hair.”
