Selling Sunset star Bre Tiesi conquered her fears on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test season 5.
“I was, like, ‘Can I die here? Because, if I die here, I can’t rely on Nick [Cannon], he’s busy, so I need to get home to my child,’” Tiesi, 35, exclusively told Us ahead of the season premiere, revealing how the reality TV crew kept reassuring her of her safety. “I was, like, ‘Am I though because this doesn’t feel safe at all.’”
Cannon, 45, shares son Legendary, 4, with Tiesi, and fathered 11 other children from different relationships.
“You really do think about those things because, at the end of the day, I’m his mother,” Tiesi stated. “My only responsibility is to him, so I’m, like, ‘Is this the right choice to throw myself off of this?’”
Tiesi, who returned from the show to Legendary calling her a “superhero” for undergoing selection, joined the latest star-studded cast including Candace Cameron Bure, Brandi Glanville, Oliver Hudson, Collin Gosselin, Ruby Rose and more for the rigorous military-style training led by army veterans.
“We had the best group of people, truly I would have not made it without that,” she gushed. “I definitely went in because I was curious if I could do any of this and I actually thought I didn’t have fears — and I very much did, and that was a lot for me. I think it was a lot of growth, it did exactly what I was hoping it would and I definitely came home a different person, for sure.”
Going into the course, Tiesi realized that she had a “crippling” fear of heights to overcome.
“I guess, I just threw myself [into the tasks],” she told Us. “I don’t think I’ve cried since I was a child, and this was, like, that one moment where you are, like, breaking ‘cause I was like, ‘I can’t do this, I can’t do this.’”
According to Tiesi, she felt compelled to push through because her fellow recruits and their DS instructors kept encouraging her to try each skill.
“That was really traumatizing for me, but I was really proud that I actually did it,” she noted. “This was just really fun and [showed] a different side of me I think you get to see, which is fun.”
Since appearing on Special Forces and overcoming her once-terrifying fears, Tiesi has been forever changed.
“I’ve never experienced something like that, but everybody was so supportive,” she said. “By the time I got home, my partner noticed a shift — even just the way I interacted with my son. I think so much has changed personally ‘cause I had a lot of growth.”
