Her time. The first trailer for the upcoming E! docuseries I Am Cait is here, and it shows Caitlyn Jenner taking moments to learn about herself and become the woman she wants to be.
The debut clip made its way online on Wednesday, June 3, just two days after Vanity Fair revealed its stunning Jenner-starring July cover, which reintroduced the reality star as Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner.
After spending eight years on Keeping Up With the Kardashians with the expansive Kardashian-Jenner family, the former Olympic athlete is stepping into the spotlight for an eight-part special about her transition.
The first preview shows the star coming clean about her gender identity and discussing her emotions tied to the transition.
“So many people go through life and they never deal with their own issues — no matter what the issues are — ours happen to be gender identity,” Caitlyn says in the clip, speaking from her home in Malibu. “But, how many people go through life and just waste an entire life cause they’d never deal with themselves to be who they are.”
Jenner is then shown primping in front of a mirror, fixing her hair and applying lip gloss as she evaluates her new look.
“You go through all this stuff and you start learning kind of the pressure that women are under all the time about their appearance,” she says. “I never had, until a couple of weeks ago, actually a professional come in and do my makeup. What a difference!”
After dodging rumors about her gender for decades, and hiding out in her mansion for months, the reality star is finally shown driving “officially off the property” and making her first foray “out into the world” as a woman. “Put it this way, I’m the new normal,” she says.
Take a look at the trailer in the video above and catch the premiere of I Am Cait on Sunday, July 26, on E!
