But will Steve court D.J. too!? Thanks to John Stamos, it was finally confirmed on Monday, April 20, that Netflix will produce and release a 13-episode spin-off of Full House. And just like so many fans out there, Candace Cameron Bure and Andrea Barber are excited to get back to the D.J. Tanner and Kimmy Gibbler days.
“The rumors are TRUE!! The Full House sequel #FullerHouse is coming to @Netflix 2016. You got it dude! Excuse me while I go dust off my shoulder pads and scrunchies,” the former Dancing With the Stars contestant, 39, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday. She teased on Twitter: “Not sure if that was the best or worst kept secret.”
The new series, Fuller House, will focus on D.J., Kimmy, and Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin). D.J. is a recently widowed mom of two who is pregnant with her third child. She gets extra help when her BFF Kimmy moves in with her teenage daughter Ramona. (John Stamos will produce and reprise his role as Uncle Jesse.)
“WE’RE BACK! After almost 20 years…my bright tights are officially coming out of retirement,” Barber, 38, captioned an Instagram photo of the pilot script. “The Full House sequel #FullerHouse premiers exclusively on @Netflix in 2016!”
For Bure and Barber, spending time on set won’t be a stretch. The actresses have been BFFs since filming the beloved series in the late ’80s and early ’90s. In fact, the gals showed just that with an extra adorable Twitter exchange Tuesday.
“Are you ready to be best friends again @candacecbure? #FullerHouse @netflix,” Barber asked. Bure quipped back: “We never stopped.” (Cue the inevitable Tanner hugs!)
Not to be left out, Sweetin is also ecstatic about her next gig. “Yep. It’s OFFICIAL!! #FullerHouse will be coming to @netflix in 2016!!” she tweeted. “@candacecbure @andreabarber @JohnStamos I’m so excited!!!”
Let’s just hope Stephanie doesn’t crash a car in the kitchen again!
