Will you accept this scoop? Chris Harrison dished some juicy Bachelor Nation gossip to Bravo host Andy Cohen during the Tuesday, May 19 episode of Watch What Happens Live, which aired just a few hours after Kaitlyn Bristowe was revealed as the season 11 Bachelorette.
The Bachelor host — who's been with the ABC series since its premiere in 2002, and also anchors the spinoffs Bachelor Pad and Bachelor in Paradise — shared his thoughts about past seasons and contestants including Juan Pablo Galavis, Andi Dorfman, and Jake Pavelka.
Asked whether he thought any of the previous 28 Bachelors and Bachelorettes had chosen the wrong person, the Perfect Letter author quipped, "You bet." Pressed to elaborate, he cited season 10 Bachelorette Dorfman, who split from fiancé Josh Murray earlier this year, just five months after the world watched them get engaged.
"She was happy for a while, but obviously I think she ended up probably with the wrong guy," the future Who Wants to Be a Millionaire host said.
Another less-than-perfect match? Season 14 Bachelor Pavelka and his now-ex-fiancee Vienna Girardi, who had a famously ugly split that they then hashed out in a 2010 breakup interview.
"I'm trying to think who was number two that season — I already forgot. But obviously they were a little bit like oil and water," Harrison said. (Tenley Molzahn was the runner-up.) "They did not get along very well together." (Understatement of the year?)
The Bachelor host also shared which former stars were a poor fit for the series — and shockingly, the completely notorious Galavis wasn't at the top of his list.
"Bob Guiney [shouldn't have done it]," Harrison admitted of the season four Bachelor, who gave his chosen lady, Estella Gardinier, a promise ring. "I love Bob, he's a dear friend of mine…but I think when he got partially through the show, I think he realized, 'I'm not really there yet. I'm not ready to find somebody.'"
As for season 18's infamous Latin lover? "That was pretty good TV," Harrison said, laughing. "I wouldn't want to take that season away!"
Speaking of good TV, it looks like the current season of The Bachelorette could actually live up to that "most dramatic season ever" tagline that seems to pop up every other year or so. Three hours into the season, one contestant, Ryan McDill, has already been kicked off for drunk and disorderly behavior.
"We painted a pretty accurate picture, because we really wanted to show you what was happening," Harrison explained of the season 11 premiere, citing McDill's rape joke and inappropriate groping of Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe. "It was just enough."
He added: "I did kick his you-know-what off. But here's what I was thinking — I didn't know how mad this guy was gonna be, and how aggro he was. And I thought, for the first time, this guy might just knock me out."
Fortunately, Harrison had backup in the form of Bachelor crew member Pauly, a former Army Ranger. "I told Pauly, I said, 'Here's the thing: When he starts throwing punches, let him get two good punches in, 'cause, you know, it's good TV.' Then break it up," the host told Cohen. "I figured he was so drunk, though, I could see him coming a long way away. Then I'd look really macho catching one."
