Spider-Man: Brand New Day is finally here — but how does it end?

By the end of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland) saved the world by casting a spell that erased the world’s memory of his alter ego. Brand New Day picked up where the third movie left off and, at the same time, Peter went through a spider-type puberty that heightened his spidey senses and powers.
“For me, [I was interested in] this idea of exploring how a superhero develops over time,” Holland said on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast in July. “As a young kid, you go through puberty and your body changes more than ever. In my franchise, we never got to explore the really exciting time of any superhero movie where someone is figuring out how to use these new gifts. I always felt, like, I wanted to try and find a way to explore that. My idea is very different to what’s in the movie, and it evolved in the way that Peter evolved in a really big way.”

How Does ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ End?
After Spider-Man saves Jean Grey (Sadie Sink) from the Department Damage Control’s experiments, he is struck by a bullet fired by ally The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) meant to end Jean’s mind control over half of New York City. (Don’t fret, Marvel fans: Spidey makes a full recovery after surgery!)
Upon his recovery, Peter also pledges to become more sociable. In the final scene, he hits up his local bodega to purchase a bouquet of roses for Aunt May’s (Marisa Tomei) gravesite, where he finds Ned (Jacob Batalon) sitting alone typing on his smartphone.
After summoning up the courage to introduce himself as Peter, the hero and Ned shake hands before instinctively going into their secret handshake from previous movies. It is deduced that Ned was able to regain his memories.
What Happens to Jean Grey in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’?
Spider-Man (well, technically an unmasked Peter) saves Jean from Damage Control’s experiments that previously killed her sister Sarah by taking a bullet for the red-headed telepath. She subsequently uses her superpowers to keep Peter alive until he woke up from surgery.
Afterward, Jean leaves town on a bus to an undisclosed destination.
Is There a ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Post-Credit Scene?
Yes, true to MCU tradition, there is one final scene after the credits roll. In the post-credit clip, Ned’s proprietary Spidey Tracker map searches for the masked hero across New York City. As the map zooms out, Spider-Man’s location is found far beyond the Big Apple.
Will Tom Holland Appear in Upcoming MCU Projects?
At the end of the post-credit scene, a title card succinctly added, “Spider-Man will return,” though further details have not yet been revealed.
As for Holland, he has remained coy about the possibility of appearing in either Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.
“I have absolutely no idea,” the actor said on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. “I swear to you … that I have no idea what Secret Wars is about, and I think that that is by design because Marvel knows I’m going on this press tour, and that is their biggest asset. I think it’s really important that no one ruins it. I went on holiday with [director] Joe Russo not a month ago and [he told me] nothing.”
At the same time, Holland hinted that the MCU has also been planting Easter eggs about Spider-Man’s successor.
“There’s a whole plan that we have been working on for, I would say, since we finished Spider-Man: No Way Home, and it’s laid out,” he noted. “It’s going to change for sure, but I have a really clear vision [of] the passing on of the baton, and I think it’s really exciting.”
