Catelynn Lowell may be saying goodbye to Teen Mom cameras when her installment’s series finale airs later this month, but the landmark MTV show will have a lasting impact on the 20-year-old Michigan college student’s life.
In fact, as a clip from Tuesday’s Teen Mom episode shows, Lowell — engaged to her costar Tyler Baltierra — is considering a full-time career in social work, and hopes to counsel pregnant teenagers like her own adoption mentor, Dawn.
“I have a calling for pregnant teenagers that are placing for adoption,” Baker College student Lowell — who placed daughter Carly, 3, with a family shortly after her birth — explains to Us Weekly. “[Giving up Carly] and doing the show helped me realize what I want to do for the rest of my life.”
Lowell isn’t just counseling teens. She also had the opportunity to be in the delivery room when a Michigan woman welcomed a baby she later gave up for adoption — to the same family who adopted Carly. “I always wanted Carly to have siblings,” Lowell told Us. Baltierra was especially impressed with his fiancee’s selflessness during the delivery. “Catelynn was involved in his birth — she was there — and it was really special,” he explained.

Catelynn Lowell’s final season of Teen Mom airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. (EST) on MTV.
