Love Is Blind OG Lauren Speed-Hamilton quickly learned that not everything about reality TV is actually real.

“The show … [pays] for the weddings, they pay for the dresses, they pay for the rings,” Lauren, 38, noted on the Friday, November 6, episode of Cam Newton’s eponymous YouTube show. ”I think they got real rings now, but mine was not.”

Lauren found love — sight unseen — with now-husband Cameron Hamilton during the inaugural season of the now-hit Netflix dating experiment. After they got engaged in the pods, Cameron, now 36, presented the influencer with a sparkling ring to seal the deal.

“The diamond fell out, turned green when I got in the pool,” she recalled of the bauble. “I was heartbroken, but now I think they have a jewelry partner, so they get real rings now.”

Ring drama aside, Lauren and Cameron went on to say “I do” in the finale. The couple-turned-reality TV success story later welcomed their first baby, son Ezra, in October 2025.

“Back before we even had children, this is one of the first conversations that me and Cam had while we were on the show,” Lauren said on Friday, discussing the then-possibility of raising a biracial child. “It was like, ‘What if we have kids one day?’ Cam and I, we were talking. I don’t  even think they showed this, but I had a moment where I actually broke down and cried.”

She continued, “I was like, ‘You know, I don’t want him to go through feeling like he doesn’t belong anywhere ‘cause some people who are biracial, they say they don’t feel fully accepted here, they say they don’t feel fully accepted there.’ I just didn’t want that for my son.”

Since giving birth to Ezra, Lauren has primarily been worried about “his protection” as a Black child.

“Just with him growing up being a Black boy, a biracial boy, there are some things that Cam won’t be able to relate to because he’s not black,” Lauren acknowledged of her interracial marriage. “He hasn’t had a Black experience. He didn’t grow up being afraid of the police pulling him over.

Lauren and Cameron have since had frank discussions about what it means to raise Ezra in 2026.

“[We are having] those types of conversations … now about that cultural difference of, you know, my son versus what [Cameron] experienced,” she said. “Of course, I have my brother and my dad’s brother who stepped in to be a granddad [after my father died]. We’ve all sat down and been like, ‘He needs to have these Black men leading him in areas that can teach him those things.’”
