It's that time of year again! The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade 2016 kicks off in New York City on Thursday, November 24, at 9 a.m. ET – and for the first time, you can watch the entire three-hour event via livestream.
The annual extravaganza, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, will be streamed online via Verizon’s YouTube page, thanks to a partnership with Macy’s and NBCUniversal. You can watch the parade livestream here.
Five cameras have been set up along the route to capture all the action and give viewers a 360-degree view of the floats, giant balloons and marching bands, Variety reports. The livestream, which will include pop-up graphics, will be curated by Marlon Wayans and Olivia Culpo.
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will kick off on the Upper West Side at 9 a.m. ET, before winding through the streets of Manhattan and arriving at Macy's flagship department store at 34th Street.
And to get you into the Thanksgiving spirit a little early, Macy’s is also streaming behind-the-scenes videos as they inflate the giant balloons – which you can watch here. There are a few new balloons this year: one of Trolls characters Poppy, Branch and Guy Diamond; Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Peanuts character Charlie Brown.
Always a celebrity favorite, the 2016 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will feature legendary crooner Tony Bennett, rap group De La Soul, singer Regina Spektor, the Muppets, the cast of NBC’s Hairspray Live!, new DWTS champion and Olympic gold medal gymnast Laurie Hernandez and America’s Got Talent winner Grace VanderWaal.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air on NBC on Thursday, November 24, beginning at 9 a.m. in all time zones and finishing at noon. NBC is also airing a 90th anniversary special with a look back at the parade’s best moments over its nine decades. The special airs on Wednesday, November 23, at 8 p.m./7 p.m. Central.
