Stephen Amell isn’t a regular dad, he’s a cool dad — and one who lets his kids live at the beach all in the name of Baywatch.
Amell, who plays Hobie Buchannon on the upcoming Fox reboot of the iconic TV series, exclusively told Us on Monday, September 14, that his family joined him in Venice, California, while he was shooting the lifeguard-focused show.
“It was really cool because it’s one of those opportunities, like, as a family, it was like summer camp where you go on an adventure,” he recalled of their temporary relocation while walking the 2026 Emmy Awards red carpet.

Amell, 45, added that his kids, daughter Mavin “Mavi,” 12, and son Bowen, 4, whom he shares with wife Cassandra Jean, didn’t get sick of the ocean despite living there for an extended period.
“We wrapped on August 7. We moved out August 8. It was great,” the Arrow alum said of the experience.
Amell, who is a Los Angeles resident, noted that leaving their usual home was just what his crew needed before kicking off the new school year.
“It’s also one of those things where you know you live in your home for — we were in our house in L.A. for 10 years and, like, you sort of stop appreciating it,” he shared. “And then you leave for a couple of months, and you come back, and you’re like, ‘Hey, don’t you look nice?’”
Amell’s choice to move his brood to the beach for filming wasn’t the only thing that earned him major dad points.

The actor told Us that his daughter got to meet his costar Shay Mitchell, which was a big moment. (Mitchell, 39, plays Trina on Baywatch, premiering in January.)
“It’s great because Shay has these two companies. She has BÉIS, and then she has her new cosmetics company, Rini, which are beauty products for young women,” Amell explained, revealing that the actress “gifted my daughter a bunch of the stuff.”
Sadly, when Amell’s daughter tried to bring the goods through TSA, “it got taken, and there were tears,” but Mitchell saved the day.
“I texted Shay, like, it was the bat signal, and I was like, ‘You gotta send us some [more],’” he recalled, telling Us that the Pretty Little Liars alum sent a “fantastic” care package to make up for the airport mishap.

Amell teased that his daughter “still hasn’t spoken” to Mitchell in person after their beauty exchange, but the teen has “active theories” and “conspiracy boards” about PLL. (Mitchell portrayed Emily Fields on the Freeform series from 2010 to 2017.)
“One of these days, hopefully, the show lasts long enough that she gets the bravery enough to speak to her. We’ll see,” Amell added of his dreams for Mavin to really bond with Mitchell.

While Amell’s daughter is still shy around his famous Baywatch costars, he told Us the cast is still in contact ahead of the premiere.
“It’s called BW Baddies, and I don’t know what that means,” he told Us of the group chat. “Is that weird? Is that a good thing?”
Baywatch premieres on Fox in January as part of their midseason lineup.
