Emotions were at an all-time high during the Monday, April 11, episode of Teen Mom 2, with Chelsea Houska celebrating her engagement to Cole DeBoer, and Kailyn Lowry revealing the devastating news that she suffered a miscarriage. On top of that, Leah Messer’s ex, Corey Simms, welcomed a baby into the world, and Jenelle Evans got some bad news about her ongoing assault case regarding that one awkward time she hurled a glass at Nathan Griffith’s girlfriend.
Also, please form a prayer circle for Leah’s family cat, who was trapped in a SUV during this episode. Hope you made it, lil’ buddy.
Chelsea’s Goin’ to the Chapel …
And she’s gonna get married! Cole popped the question to his gal pal, and while the engagement took place off camera (nooooo!), these love birds couldn’t stop chatting about the sweet moment. “He took me to this spot he likes out in the woods,” Chelsea gushed to her mom. “There were a whole bunch of trees that had pictures of us … Then he got on his knee.”
Turns out, Cole asked Chelsea’s daughter, Aubree, for her approval, which Chelsea loved. “He even asked her,” the young mom said. “He was like, ‘Is it OK if I marry your mommy?’ I was very emotional.”
Chelsea and Cole want a small wedding, so hopefully the Teen Mom 2 crew will be invited. But you know who’s definitely not on the guest list? That would be Chelsea’s ex, Adam Lind, who spent this episode complaining about their ongoing custody issues. Also, he seems to have grown a massive beard, in case you were wondering.
Nathan Leverages Jenelle’s Assault Case for Custody
So many legal battles, so little time! Jenelle got bad news about assault charges brought against her by Nathan’s girlfriend, and it looks like the case might impact her custody agreement. Long story short, Jenelle’s lawyer implied that Nathan’s girlfriend would drop charges if Jenelle agreed to fork over shared custody of their son, Kaiser, who Nathan claimed was being kept from him. “They’ve got you red-handed, and you admit to everything you did, and there’s no defense to it,” Jenelle’s lawyer explained. “And that’s assault battery, third degree.”
The hot-tempered star ended up crying in her bathroom after hanging up on her lawyer — and to make matters worse, she found out that she failed a school background check. Looks like that Surgical Tech degree could be off the table if she doesn’t play ball with Nathan, who plans to fight for full custody. (Oh, and in slightly better news, Jenelle’s boyfriend, David Eason, moved in with her. Yay!)
Kailyn Reveals the Devastating Loss of Her Pregnancy
In a truly shocking moment, Kailyn admitted that she’d suffered a miscarriage earlier in the season, and had initially opted not to talk about it on camera. However, the mother-of-two opened up about the loss while visiting a friend in New Mexico, saying that she bled for “days and days.”
“We had planned the baby down to a science,” Kailyn explained through tears. “We didn’t tell anyone we were pregnant. We were gonna announce on our Christmas cards.”
Kailyn said that she didn’t feel like her husband, Javi Marroquin, had her back during her brief hospitalization, but he later explained his behavior. “I knew it was no one’s fault — it wasn’t your fault, and it wasn’t my fault. But it’s crazy — it’s like I needed someone to blame,” he said. “That was part of the reason why me and you were fighting so much right after the miscarriage. I needed to blame somebody, and I was taking it out on you. I’m sorry for being mean to you when it all happened … In my head, I’m thinking, ‘She shouldn’t have went to the gym, she shouldn’t have gone to jiu jitsu,’ or stuff like that. Even though I know it had nothing to do with that.”
Kailyn seemed to accept her husband’s apology, but pointed out that he should have said something much sooner.
Leah Looses Her Cool
Congrats, Corey! The Teen Mom 2 dad welcomed his daughter into the world two months early, so naturally Leah offered to help take care of their twins. Unfortunately, Corey had no interest in her offer, which majorly hurt Leah’s feelings. “Wouldn’t it be easier to allow the mother of your children to take them?” she complained to a friend.
Leah claimed to be capable of caring for her kids, but seemed frazzled while trying to get Ali to chorus on time. In fact, she ended up crazy-late thanks to forgetting part of Ali’s outfit, and was heard saying, “Are you f–king kidding me right now? Why is my life so f–king horrible? Like, what the f–k.”
Leah also had some harsh words for Corey’s wife, Miranda, who she claims prevented the twins from saying a proper goodbye while they were upset and crying. “Miranda just locked the door and drove off,” she said. “Like, who is she? I’m sorry, but who is she? I’m so sick of her attitude.”
The good news is that Leah has a great relationship with her other baby daddy, Jeremy Calvert. The bad news is that her kitten was trapped in the car while Ali was in chorus, and we have no clue what happened to it.
