'Shameless' Cast: Where Are They Now? Emmy Rossum, William H. Macy and More

Gallaghers forever! The long-running dramedy Shameless wrapped up its 10-year run in April 2021, but the Gallagher family's antics will always live on in viewers' hearts. Based on a British TV show of the same name, Shameless premiered on Showtime in January 2011. William H. Macy anchored the cast as Frank Gallagher, the family patriarch. As Frank struggled with alcohol and drug addictions, he relied on his six children to financially support him and their siblings. "The Gallaghers live right on the edge of the law, and they have to skirt the law a lot to make it," the Emmy winner told Vanity Fair in August 2018. "They’re one paycheck away from homelessness. And it’s a really interesting family to follow, to see what that’s really like. And we make light of it, and it’s sanitized a little bit, but the writers have been really good at, every once in a while, reminding you — this is serious s—t." The series, set in Chicago, racked up 15 Emmy nominations during its 11 seasons, winning four. Macy never won any of his six nods for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, but he did take home three Screen Actors Guild Awards for his performance, winning in 2015, 2017 and 2018. [jwplayer tV7N8JYT-zhNYySv2] Emmy Rossum, arguably the show's other biggest star, made headlines in August 2018 when she announced that she was leaving the series after season 9. “I know you will continue on without me, for now," she wrote in a Facebook statement at the time. "There is much more Gallagher story to be told. I will always be rooting for my family. Try not to think of me as gone, just think of me as moving down the block.” After the series finale aired in April 2021, however, her former costar Emma Kenney said "the set became more of a positive place" following Rossum's departure. "I remember pre her leaving, I’d go to set some days and I’d be very anxious having a scene with her because if she had a bad day, she made it a bad day for everybody," the Conners alum said during an October 2021 episode of the "Call Her Daddy" podcast. Despite any past tension, Kenney added that she still has "a lot of love" for the Phantom of the Opera star. "I hope she finds her happiness," she added. William H. Macy

During Shameless' run, the Oscar nominee appeared in movies including The Sessions, Cake, Room and Blood Father. He also directed 2017's The Layover. In 2022, he's set to star in a Hulu series called The Dropout. The Miami native has been married to Felicity Huffman since 1997. The duo share two daughters, Sophia and Georgia. The couple made headlines in 2019 when they were involved in the college admissions scandal. No charges were filed against Macy, but Huffman served 11 days in prison and completed 250 hours of community service.

Emmy Rossum

Rossum starred as Fiona, the eldest of the Gallagher children. After leaving Shameless in 2018, the Mystic River star tried her hand at directing, helming episodes of Modern Love and Animal Kingdom. She is set to star as Los Angeles media personality Angelyne in a forthcoming biopic of the same name.

In May 2021, the Poseidon actress welcomed a daughter with husband Sam Esmail, whom she wed in 2017. Rossum announced in April 2023 that the couple quietly welcomed a son.

Justin Chatwin

The Canadian actor played Fiona's off-and-on boyfriend, Jimmy Lishman. Since exiting the show in 2015, Chatwin has appeared in movies including CHiPs, We Don't Belong Here and The Assassin's Code. His post-Shameless TV credits include Orphan Black, American Gothic, Doctor Who and Another Life.

Ethan Cutkosky

The Illinois native starred as Carl Gallagher, the second youngest of Frank's children. He has appeared in episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Power. In July 2021, he released a single titled "Erase Me." His next project is a film called Going Places, which also stars Alysia Reiner and Spencer Moore II.

Shanola Hampton

Hampton played Veronica Fisher, neighbor of the Gallaghers and best friend to Fiona. While starring in Shameless, the South Carolina native also landed roles in TV shows including Criminal Minds, Stalker and Noches con Platanito. She has been married to producer Daren Dukes since 2000. The duo share daughter Cai and son Daren.

Steve Howey

The Reba alum portrayed Veronica's husband, Kevin Ball. During Shameless, he appeared on TV shows including New Girl, Sons of Anarchy, Dead to Me and Workaholics. His film credits include Stuber, Unleashed and In Your Eyes. The Texas native was wed to Sarah Shahi from 2009 to 2021. The former couple share son William and twins Violet and Knox.

Emma Kenney

The New York City native played Debbie, one of the younger Gallagher children. Kenney starred on the Roseanne reboot, The Conners, from 2018 to 2021. She also has a role in the upcoming film Murder at Emigrant Gulch, which also stars Isaiah Mustafa, Nat Wolff and Gabriel Byrne.

Jeremy Allen White

White starred as Phillip "Lip" Gallagher, the second oldest child in the family. In addition to Shameless, his TV credits include Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Homecoming and FX series The Bear. He has been wed to Addison Timlin since 2019. The pair share daughters Ezer and Wild.

Cameron Monaghan

Monaghan played Ian Gallagher, who was later revealed not to be Frank's biological son. The California native has appeared in series including NCIS, Gotham and Mercy Street. While Shameless was on, he also starred in films including Vampire Academy, The Giver, Mall and The Year of Spectacular Men. He's set to appear in an upcoming movie titled Shattered alongside John Malkovich.

Noel Fisher

Fisher appeared as Mickey Milkovich, Ian's on-again, off-again boyfriend and later husband. Like Kenney, the Canada native has appeared on The Conners. His other TV credits include Justice League Action, Castle Rock and Fear the Walking Dead. He has been married to Layla Alizada since 2017.

Christian Isaiah

Isaiah played Liam, the youngest Gallagher child, from season 8 through the series finale. The Virginia native has appeared in TV series including Teachers, Borrasca and Married.

Kate Miner

Miner starred as Tami Tamietti in the last three seasons of Shameless. The former model has also appeared in shows including Summerland, Grey's Anatomy, Necessary Roughness, Scandal and Two and a Half Men. Miner is also a musician, recording as part of a duo called Winslow with Briana Lane.
