The cap’n’s fleet is growing! PepsiCo, the maker of Cap’n Crunch, announced on Tuesday, June 18, that two new flavors would be joining its cereal lineup this summer.

The first new creation, Cap’n Crunch Cotton Candy, comes after months of rumors and speculation on social media. The cereal itself, which is the first new “flavor discovery” the brand has released in four years, consists of vibrant pink and blue pieces that are designed to taste like the popular sweet treat.

“This classic cereal is capitalizing on the cotton candy-flavored foods trend across ice cream, beverages, baked goods and more,” PepsiCo said via a press release. “It will add everyday flavor fun to the current line of Cap’n Crunch offerings – just in time for summer!”

A rep tells Us Weekly that this breakfast item, which is expected to join Cap’n Crunch’s permanent lineup, will hit store shelves later this month.

Next up on the cereal company’s roster is Cap’n Crunch’s Red, White & Blue Crunch. This limited-edition release, which boasts a refreshing berry flavor, will be available at some point this summer. It is billed as a “sweet salute to the season.”

Not surprisingly, the patriotic food gets its name from the red, white and blue cereal pieces that comprise it.

Cap’n Crunch’s latest offerings are just a handful of the interesting new cereals that have debuted in recent months. Back in January, Post released Sour Patch Kids cereal – a candy-inspired version of the breakfast food featuring fun, “kid”-shaped pieces with a sour coating and a sweet finish, reminiscent of the snack itself.

Not to be outdone, General Mills brought back marshmallow-only Lucky Charms in March. This year’s version of the especially sugary cereal featured marshmallows in the shape of rainbows and unicorns.
