Princess Eugenie’s family is sparing no expense when it comes to her upcoming wedding to Jack Brooksbank on Friday, October 12. The lavish affair is expected to consist of three separate functions – and food plays a central role! Guests will celebrate at a reception after the ceremony hosted by Queen Elizabeth II, followed by an evening reception at the Royal Lodge in Windsor and a party the next day.

The nuptials mark the second royal wedding of the year after Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s May 19 marriage, but Princess Eugenie’s wedding is expected to be a bit less formal and regulated than those of her cousins, especially where food is concerned. That’s why Us Weekly has rounded up four food facts you need to know about Princess Eugenie’s big weekend. Scroll down to check them out!

The Menu Might Be Influenced by Princess Eugenie’s Favorite Restaurants

Like most brides, there’s reason to believe the menu at the couple’s Friday evening event will be influenced by some of the royal’s favorite restaurants. Harper’s Bazaar reports Eugenie’s London Pinterest board mentions two particular London restaurants, Detox Kitchen and Deliciously Ella, which both focus on vegetarian and vegan food that is sustainable and locally sourced. This could indicate that much of the food at the wedding will be healthy and nutritious, especially considering Eugenie has already declared her wedding will be plastic-free, according to Brides.

The Cake Is Red Velvet

While Duchess Meghan opted for California-born baker Claire Ptak to make her wedding cake, Princess Eugenie has chosen someone local. London-based cake designer Sophie Cabot confirmed she is designing Eugenie and Brooksbank’s cake via Instagram. “With great excitement I am able to announce that I will be making the wedding cake for Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank. It has been the biggest secret I’ve ever had to keep!!” she captioned a photo of herself decorating a red velvet confection on Sunday, October 7. “I’m thrilled and honoured to have been chosen to create something so special and unique for this wonderful couple xx @princesseugenie @hrhthedukeofyork@theroyalfamily.”

The Party Eats Will Be “Relaxed”

Following the ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, Queen Elizabeth II will host a lunch for the newlyweds, and though details about that “more formal” meal are scarce, The Sunday Times reports Eugenie has hired celebrity party planner Peregrine Armstrong-Jones to take charge of the festivities on Saturday, October 13, which will be “relaxed.”

To achieve a more laid-back atmosphere, Armstrong-Jones, who helped plan Victoria Beckham’s wedding to David Beckham in 1999, is bringing in bumper cars and other carnival rides, along with coconut shies and plenty of food stalls.

And There Will Be Plenty to Drink

In addition to the food stalls, The Sunday Times notes Saturday’s bash will also feature cocktails such as bloody Marys. And since there are no formal rules dictating how much Princess Eugenie or her guests are allowed to drink, there will probably be additional libations available.
