Now that the gift-giving season is coming to a close, it’s that awkward time of year when we admit we can’t exactly use every present we received. While many presents can be re-gifted to a person who will love and get more use out of them, there is also a cool service that allows Us to trade in a gift we may not exactly adore for something else — or even cash.

Selling gift cards with the Cardpool service can be done in a few very easy steps.

All we have to do is search for the store where the gift card comes from. Then, we select whether we want to be paid through a mailed check or exchange for an Amazon gift card.
With the Amazon gift card, though, we receive six percent more than we would get from the mailed check. But don’t worry, the Cardpool service lets the user see how much money he or she can make before making the decision and completing the sale.
For a $50 gift card from Target, we can earn $38 by selling directly to Cardpool and would receive a payout within one business day. We also have the option to post it on the Cardpool marketplace, but the marketplace payout is available only when the buyer receives the gift card.
Cardpool also has a local store and kiosk locations where we can sell unwanted gift cards in person.
The kiosks and cashier-assisted locations are available at local stores including Target, Food Lion and several places for cashing checks. All we have to do is enter a zip code to find the nearest location.
