We’re always in search of the perfect leggings. The ideal ones should compress Us, be high-waisted, be totally opaque and not give off a cheap plastic-y looking shine. Lucky for Us and our quest for the perfect black leggings, Instagram-favorite brand Girlfriend Collective just dropped at Nordstrom. Don’t dismiss these as your average pair of stretchy bottoms. Every bra and legging in the brand’s repertoire is made out of polyester sourced from recycled plastic bottles. Specifically, they’re made from BPA-free Polyethylene Terephthalate, otherwise known as PET. The recycled bottles eventually become superfine threads that are softer than your average jersey, which are then spun to create the leggings we see on the rack (or online).
Despite being made from plastic, Girlfriend Collective leggings certainly don’t look or feel like it. They’re totally matte and feel super soft. Despite feeling so plush, they’re surprisingly compressive — so much so, that they’re one of the only leggings we own that make it look like we’ve done our ab work before even hitting the gym. During workouts, the bottoms wick away moisture and stay snug on the waist, so we don’t have to constantly pull them up and adjust between reps.
The leggings are currently available in three colors at Nordstrom — black, midnight blue and a smoky grey. The size-inclusive brand is also available in sizes XXS to 3XL in the leggings and bras range from XS to XL.
