Wherever we are, whatever we’re doing, there’s a good chance that if we look around we’re going to spot a bag from Herschel Supply Co. on someone’s arm. There’s a reason — or rather, reasons — the brand has become so popular. The unmatched quality, the minimally trendy designs and the endless functionality are just a few, and we’ve decided that we need them all for a duffel bag to become our duffel bag.
We’re making Herschel Supply Co.’s Novel Duffel Bag ours, for sure. Not only is it extremely roomy and sleek, but it also has a few hidden secrets we can’t wait to dig into. We actually can’t wait any longer to talk about our favorite feature, which shoppers can’t stop raving about: the shoe compartment.

Sometimes when we’re out and about, we need to bring a change of shoes with us. Whether we’re going out after work, going on a heavy-duty hike or headed for a quick gym session, we end up faced with the problem of where to put our dirty, freshly-worn shoes. We’re not going to carry them around in our nice leather totes, but we don’t want to be hefting an oversized plastic bag around either. So what can we do to keep the grime confined? We can store our shoes in this exterior zip shoe compartment!
This compartment is great for not only keeping one pair of dirty shoes away from the rest of our belongings, but two or three pairs! It’s super roomy so we don’t have to risk muddying up a change of clothes or stinking up a scarf by placing our shoes in the main pocket. This could also prevent irreversible damage such as rips, especially when it comes to stilettos and pointy toes!
Apart from the separate shoe compartment is the main compartment, which seems even bigger on the inside when we open it up to see the Herschel signature red and white striped lining. This compartment has a zip closure to keep our belongings safe, especially for when we’re traveling with our duffel bag, which we will be! This bag meets most airline carry-on size requirements, so it’ll be a go-to for weekend trips to week-long getaways.
This bag has double carrying handles for a quick grab-and-go, but it also includes a removable adjustable shoulder strap. This is especially useful for when we’re carrying other bags or walking a sizable distance. The strap also features a cushioned sleeve for resting comfortably on our shoulder. On the outside of every shade option is also Herschel’s recognizable patch logo, which promises “the finest quality.”
Speaking of shade options, we have three! Black/Tan is mostly an all-black bag on the outside with the exception of the double carrying handles, which are a classy shade of tan-brown, and the thin white line of the zipper. If we want something other than black, we can instead choose Navy/Tan, which is a deep shade of blue with the same contrasting features. Not feeling black or blue? We can keep it truly neutral with Kelp/Saddle Brown. It’s a sandy beige color with lighter brown, canvas handles.
One shopper called this duffel bag the “perfect gym bag,” while others loved it specifically for traveling. No matter what everyone’s using it for, many agree that the shoe compartment is a huge help in their lives.
