Save for those of Us fortunate enough to live in a climate that’s warm year-round, we know the necessity of having a perfectly snuggly winter wardrobe. Whether we prefer capsule wardrobes with only a few select items to rotate throughout the season or if we seemingly can never stop adding more jeans and coats to our wardrobe (guilty as charged), there’s nothing quite as important as having a few select pieces on standby to wear while the temps are low and the need for cozy items is at an all-time high.
In our eyes, the pivotal item that our closet simply can’t function without when the temperatures drop is a plush sweater. Naturally, we’ve been on the hunt for the perfect one since the moment we felt the first winter chill (OK, fine, well before that) and we’ve been adding multiple styles to our carts. While many made the cut and were either shockingly soft, so affordable it would be a crime not to add to our carts or just the right fit, we have finally found one that truly checks off all the boxes for the perfect knit — starting with the price.

The Michael Michael Kors Cowl Neck Sweater is the go-to sweater we’ve been wishing for. It has a draped neckline that keeps our necks warm without the constricting factor of a turtleneck, plus a true-to-size fit that skims the torso without the unflattering cling many knits have. The sleeves are the perfect length for anyone that likes to burrow their hands for the ultimate cozy factor and are fitted enough to roll or scrunch up, should we get a little warm or just want to show off a watch or bracelet. The rib detailing at the hem adds a chic touch and it’s a great length for both wearing over pants or tucking into jeans without any added unnecessary bulk.
The best part about the knit, however, isn’t just the fit (though we can’t lie, it’s pretty super) — rather, we’re absolutely smitten with the feel of the fabric. It’s made of a chenille so soft, we can easily mistake it for velvet. There’s virtually zero itch (as is commonly associated with wool-blend knits) and it won’t irritate the skin halfway through the day. It both looks and feels expensive, without actually being so — but more on that later.
The hard part? Deciding on a color to add to cart! Four are currently available and each can bring a totally new element to our wardrobe!
First up is the classic, no-nonsense black. The rich material adds an extra dimension to the shade, but it’s still a very true black — no charcoal or washed-out vibes here. We can’t wait to pair it with a pair of high-waisted black skinny jeans, a peacoat and a pair of glossy black ankle boots to introduce some cool textures into our outfit. Not a fan of black-on-black? Try tucking the sweater in some high-waisted kick-flare pants, a pair of mules and topping off with a tote for a look that works for both work and play.
Want to introduce a bit of color? Try the dark emerald shade! It’s the perfect shade of green that’s somewhere between pine tree and jewel tone and it’s perfect for showing that green knits can look chic well beyond the holidays! Pair this hue with a pleated leather midiskirt and booties for a look that’s sure to turn heads (and have your friends or coworkers demand where you got that stunning sweater!)
Next up is the beyond-stunning Cordovan shade. The beautiful reddish-brown shade can work wonders if paired with other velvety textures, or even with your go-to jeans. On the hunt for more drama? Try teaming it with black Ponte pants and over-the-knee boots.
Our absolute favorite color the sweater comes in, however, is a beautiful bright white — the very color of snowflakes! It’s giving us major snow queen vibes and we plan on channeling that by pairing it with either an all-white ensemble or dressing it up with a pair of leather pants, bouncy waves and a red lip.
Reviewers dig the sweater almost as much as we do! Several noted how soft and feel-good the knit is, plus they said that it looks absolutely divine on. The consensus? It’s cozy, it’s classy and it works for both work and play. Sounds like a definite winner to Us!
