Come spring, we know refreshing our sandal collection is mandatory. No matter how many pairs we’ve accumulated in previous years, upgrading our footwear for the new season is a task we look forward to. We so eagerly await showing off our new kicks that often times, we forget the whole spring showers that come with the territory.

We know mules are in for spring and we’re excited to wear them! But rain and open toe/heel shoes just don’t mix. Or do they? These Old Navy mules are chic, budget-friendly and can survive April showers! (Editor’s Note: I’ll admit, I have first-hand proof!)

There are so many reasons to love the Old Navy Sueded Mule Block Heel Sandals. But first, we have to talk about the price because it seems unreal. Yes, this pair of ultra-trendy sandals is under $25 right now! That is truly insane to see a shoe of this great quality (more on how they survived a rainstorm in a bit!) at such a wallet-friendly price.

Block heels, in general, are just practical. The heel is chic enough for everyday wear and so comfortable, it doesn’t even feel like wearing heels at all. This style of shoe comes in handy when we want to make a casual outfit look chic or look just as elegant when paired with a polished or dressy outfit. They truly transcend outfits and occasions.

The level of comfort is off the charts, too! Unlike our sky-high stilettos, these mules have a comfortable 2.5-inch heel that’s thick enough to walk around painlessly and a cushioned footbed. Consider these shoes the only pair you’ll ever want to wear outdoors (ie. they won’t get stuck in grass) or if you need to walk quite a bit, whether it be brunch and shopping, your daily commute to work or a night out on the town.

These mules are made of a smooth faux-suede material and while that seems terrifying for April showers, let me ease your worries right now! That feeling of wanting to finally show off new spring sandals kicked in one April weekend for me, the woman clearly too busy to check the weather forecast. Spoiler alert: Heavy rain ahead. I’ll admit, once walking outside in my brand-new black mules, I should have marched right back inside to switch shoes. But I like to live dangerously. So I stubbornly wore these exact Old Navy mules in Blackjack on a trek through Manhattan and eventually to far Brooklyn.

Good news: They survived! Even better news? Not one bit of damage! Seriously. These under-$25 sandals proved to be basically just as efficient as my Wellies and did not sacrifice one bit of style in the process.

I can confirm I am wearing these once again and the faux-suede looks just as brand new as the day they came in the mail. Old Navy does recommend spot cleaning these mules if they become dirty, but all I had to do was brush off some outdoor debris with my hand. I can’t speak to the two other color options they come in — Taupe and L.A. pink, which are equally chic — but the Blackjack hue is a hero without a cape (or an umbrella).

So if anxious to break out spring shoes, ease your worries when wearing these Old Navy sandals because they truly can weather a storm.
