Plaid button-ups are the key to life, to put it lightly. No, we’re not exaggerating! They’re timeless in their own way and they look good on seriously everybody. They have that ‘90s vibe with the classiness of a dress shirt, along with a versatility worth writing home about over and over again.

This top is made from 100% cotton, so we won’t have to deal with itchy and uncomfortable fabric that has us regretting our outfit choice all day. It has a navy and white medium-sized plaid print and a color mixture that’s undeniably fashionable and enviable, sure to turn heads everywhere. It features white buttons in the front, along with a chest pocket on the left side for storing little reminder notes or treats. It also looks super cute, so there’s that.
Another great thing about this top is its fit. It has a barely-oversized roominess to it that we’d expect from a plaid shirt worth our time and attention. One shopper said that it was “not too baggy and not too tight,” but “just the right fit.” It’s like we’re Goldilocks and this shirt is our perfect porridge! This fit is great for tucking in because we can pull it down tightly or we can pull it out slightly to hang over our belt. If we want to leave it untucked, it will hit us right around the hips, dipping slightly into a semi-circular hem in the back.
This top also features button cuffs at the ends of the sleeves. We love that these are full-length long sleeves because that increases the number of ways we can wear them. For colder weather, we can leave them as is, but when things heat up a bit, we can push them up toward our elbows or neatly fold them back. Each way delivers a different look from comfortable and casual to pretty and carefree.
Another way we can easily change up the style of this shirt is by buttoning it up or undoing the buttons to create a lower neckline. We can button it all the way up for a chic vintage look. To perfect it, just tuck the top into a high-waisted skirt and throw on a short necklace, letting it peek out from underneath the collar. Grab a pair of heels or flats and we’re set!

We can, alternatively, undo the buttons for a breezier, beachier look. This top would be great for layering over a swimsuit at the beach or pool, actually! We can also choose to completely unbutton it, letting it hang open as the final layer to our outfit. That, or we can tie the ends together in front! Slip a T-shirt, tank top or cami on underneath and the look gets an automatic upgrade!
Another option we like is to leave this top buttoned, but wrap a belt around our waist over it. This creates a flared out peplum effect that defines our waist and flatters our figure.
For work, we would leave this top buttoned most of the way up, tucking it into dark trousers and wearing a blazer on top. The top is more than nice enough to justify skipping the blazer, but we just like to have a full-on, completed look in our head. We never know what the day may bring!
We love the colors of this Damon shirt because even though its base is navy, the white makes it more than acceptable to pair with black bottoms, jackets and accessories. The fashion police will stay far away, unless they want to pull us over so they can get the exact details of our outfit to recreate it themselves.
