So much of our day is go, go, go. Take shower, wash face, brush teeth, grab breakfast, drive, catch a train, work, work, work, make food, socialize, wash face and brush teeth again and so on and so forth, and repeat. Throw in an exercise session in there and it’s no wonder we’re so exhausted all the time. With all of this non-stop activity, we seriously need something that embraces inactivity at the end of the day.
The Homecoat from OFFHOURS is specifically not loungewear. The brand, instead, sees this robe as “inactive-wear.” OFFHOURS wants us to embrace the concept of resting and make it a reality. It recognizes that being active is healthy, of course, but reminds us that we can’t overdo it by never letting ourselves relax. Now, this is a form of self-care we’re jumping at the chance to practice. And by “jumping,” we mean “lying back and snuggling up.”

The Homecoat allows us to be our “true, out-of-office” selves. This robe/blanket combination blows Snuggies so far out of the water they’re practically in outer space. Its cozy quilting reminds us of the comforter on our bed, but even softer. It’s constructed of “premium cottons,” with a sweatshirt-like French terry on the outside and smooth, T-shirt-like fabric on the inside. Know what that means? It’s machine washable! Good thing, too, because we’re going to get a lot of wear out of this.
OFFHOURS made this Homecoat based off the fact that sleepwear isn’t just for bedtime. When we’re home for the night, that means no jeans, no tights, no blouses and no “real clothes” in general. Even if we’re calling it at a day at 1 p.m., why should we keep on our outside outfit? We’re getting comfy ASAP. We might not own a cute pair of pajamas, and even if we do, we might still want some extra cushion, comfort and warmth. That’s when we slip the Homecoat on.
On top of its horizontal quilting, the Homecoat has two big, square pockets for tucking our chilly hands away. These pockets are also a great spot for stuffing away little self-care secrets for safe keeping. We’re going to keep a face roller, a sheet mask, a few cherry-flavored lozenges and maybe the television remote in ours. That way, it’ll always be on Us.
Another cute and unique aspect of the Homecoat is the tie, which sits off to the side for a stylishly asymmetrical effect. This tie is practical and helps create some shape and form so that we don’t look like we’re truly wearing our blanket.
OFFHOURS describes this robe as fashionable enough that we “wouldn’t mind being seen in [it] by the delivery guy.” We’ve all had that moment of panic when we’re at home in a ratty T-shirt and perhaps no pants at all when the doorbell rings and, guess what? They need our signature. With the Homecoat, we’re prepared to put on a fashion show at any time. If possible, though, we’d rather not get up.
This Homecoat is one size fits all, regardless of sex, so there’s no stressing about picking the right size. We might, however, have to stress about our roommates or significant others trying to steal it for themselves! Luckily, we can get ahead of that issue when we buy two Homecoats instead of one. The Homecoat is currently available in four colors. Sweatshirt is a heather grey, while the artsy Michelangelo is a beautiful sage with a creamy lining at the placket and a pop of orange via the tie. Varsity also plays with a few different colors. It’s sporty-inspired, but OFFHOURS calls it “recommended attire for ignoring phone calls.” It’s a deep blue with muted greed pockets and a maroon lining at the placket, bringing back the green at the collar.
Memphis is a super-light pink with a mustard yellow lining in front and a cobalt blue tie. This is seriously a winning color combination. The other color, Affogato, is currently sold out, which means these other colors may not be far behind. Luckily, they all have the same cozy factor that will make us feel like we’re wrapped up in a cloud.
Weighted blankets are great, but this Homecoat is so much more. Honestly, we’re tempted to wear it outside, but maybe we’ll just keep it as a special treat for our happy place: home.
