We all need a dress that not only makes us feel special, but turns an entire night into one to remember. It’s hard to have a dull time when we’re shining like stars and feeling like starlets. That’s why we’re making this dress a go-to for any fancy occasion. Even if the occasion isn’t fancy to begin with, it will be once we show up.
The Superdown Frida Side Slit Dress is a pure stunner. It’s a gorgeous navy that boasts a gorgeous violet hue undertone. The silky fabric grabs the light, takes it and runs with it, making sure we’re glowing all night long. If we have a twinkle in our eye, we’re probably looking down at our dress . . . again.

This dress is held up by skinny straps which won’t distract from our overall look and are easy to layer a velvety-soft scarf over. The midi-hem falls just below the knee, but while the dress is form-fitting, it won’t constrict us. There are two slits, one of each side of the skirt, which run up to mid-thigh, stopping just before upper-thigh territory. Alluring, captivating and oh-so-sophisticated. Totally easy to move around and dance in! It’s always a plus when we can comfortably cross our legs, too.
The neckline of the dress forms a fairly deep V, but the back sinks much lower to show off the fabulous strappy detail. The skinny straps criss-cross between the shoulder blades and cross just once more horizontally at the bottom, where the string threads through tiny loopholes so we can tie it in a centered knot just above the shallow V of the back. This means we can tie this dress as tightly or as loosely as we want so we’re able to customize and maintain our own perfect fit. The resulting bow is also totally cute!
Just beneath this strappy back detail is a hidden zip closure so we can slip and slide the silk on and off with ease. We loved Slip’N Slides in the summer as kids, but who knew there was this other wonderful version for when we were older?
This unsung hero of this Frida dress is the lining, which runs from top to bottom. This lining keeps the dress sitting daintily on our body without clinging, leaving room for it to flow and keeping us on the go without having to readjust every time we stand up. It also keeps the dress opaque so everyone will be concentrating on the outside rather than the inside, which we’d like to keep on the inside.
If we were to wear this dress for a date night, we’d have so many options for the rest of our look. The skinny straps and neckline match perfectly with our hair either down or pulled up, and if we can work a braid somewhere in there, even better! Because of this dress’ elegant simplicity, our shoe options open up as well. We can go for a skinny stiletto, a block heel, a wedge, a strappy sandal or a closed-toe, pointy flat. Any of those will fit without question!
A black suede shoe would look divine, though we’re also more than ready to add extra shine in with some silver or gold. If not on our shoes, then definitely with our jewelry. This navy would also gorgeously complement a light pink or deep red. We’re also picturing a yellow clutch or cross-body somewhere in there!
If our date night happens to be an at-home one, shoes are optional, but we still recommend slipping this dress on. A night at home will feel so much more special with a classy dress on, some candles lit up and a romantic playlist to set the mood.
Whether we’re going with a date or not, this dress is also a great choice for attending a wedding! In the summer, it can easily hold its own, but in the winter, it lends itself to layering. We’re seeing a cropped, faux-fur coat or an oversized shawl to wrap around our shoulders.
With this Frida Side Slit Dress at our side, we’re sure to hear a “wow” or 10 each time we wear it. Now that’s a true statement dress. The only statement we have left to make is more of a question, and it’s “Why aren’t we wearing this right now?”
