Golden goddess! Before pop sensation Demi Lovato performed hit duet Get in Line with Christina Aguilera at the 2018 Billboard Awards, she hit the red carpet at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with an enviable sunkissed glow. The event, hosted by Kelly Clarkson, brought music’s most glamorous including Jennifer Lopez, Hailey Baldwin and a triumphant return by Taylor Swift! But Lovato turned heads with her stunning — and healthy — pumped-up-neutral makeup.
The 25-year-old phenom hit the carpet in a fun animal print belted Dior gown and a “bronzy/brown smokey eye paired with a nude lip” to compliment the style, her makeup artist Jill Powell says. The makeup pro let Us in on all the details, including every product used, to create the perfectly contoured look.
The first step? Creating a “flawless, uniform bronze look from head-to-toe.” Powell blended Westmore Coverage Perfector in Tan on the Sorry Not Sorry singer’s face and Westmore Body Coverage Perfector in Golden Radiance all over her body so that the skin peeking out of Lovato’s plunging neckline and that sexy slit would look even and natural. Since these products are waterproof and transfer proof, Powell knew they’d stay put through Vegas heat and Lovato’s performance number.
Next up: subtle contouring. Powell swept Westmore’s Double Feature Blush in Nude Pink along cheekbones, then highlighted with Westmore Bombshell Eyeshadow placed slightly above cheekbones.
For that bronzy brown smoky eye, she brushed Bombshell all over lids, then added dimension with a stroke of Glamorous eyeshadow on outer corners and Seductress in the creases. Scene Stealer eyeshadow was used under brows to make arches pop, while Westmore’s On the Go Lasting Effects Brow Gel in Dark Brunette softly defined the Skyscraper singer’s brows. Lashes were stroked with Red Carpet Lashes mascara and Ardell Wispies strips to added to beef up fringe.
The finishing touch: Powell used a pink nude lipliner to fill in Lovato’s pout, anchoring Westmore Precision Point Blockbuster Lipstick in Award Winning Nude and a touch of Now You See Me gloss for shine.
