“Easy glam, in my opinion, happens to be convertible pieces,” the pro, who’s set to release his Disney’s The Lion King Limited Edition Collection by Sir John & Luminess cosmetics line on June 15, explains to Us. “[It’s] pieces that you can use in more than one areas of the face.” That could be a liquid lipstick that doubles as a cream blush or even a highlighter for a shimmery eye shadow.

Another key to an easy glam is using a highlighter properly, he says. Take the “Formation” singer, 37, in Netflix’s Homecoming for example: It’s important “that you strategically place your highlighter,” the makeup artist continues, noting that a “big faux pas” he notices a lot on social media is when girls shine the tip of their nose with the shimmer.

Instead, Sir John recommends applying the product “along the sides” of the face and stopping right at the eyes. “If you have a shimmer blush or an illuminating highlighter, it should stop or dissipate away when you get to the eyes,” he says. “So only in the front of your cheeks should be a bit more matte.” Doing this technique “makes a massive, massive, massive difference,” he adds.
