He knows what he wants! When it comes to picking out his clothes, Bradley Cooper has an eye for style. But one opinion he won’t leave the house without? His stylist’s Ilaria Urbinati.
“Bradley definitely has a very strong mind in what he wants,” she told Stylish at the launch party for her collaboration with The Mighty Company, The Break-Up Collection, on Monday, December 10, in West Hollywood.
“We’ve been together for such a long time and he’s one of my oldest clients, so we have a really good relationship and I kind of let him do his thing, but I sort of help execute it to him,” she added.
Urbinati is also known for working with Rami Malek, Armie Hammer, Donald Glover and more A-listers and says her secret for making them look good is all about trust and pushing boundaries.
“It’s always a very collaborative process with all my clients, but they definitely trust me and they know that the more they listen, the better they’ll look. It’s my job. They know I know what I’m doing, but I pick my battles and I try to give everybody their own look,” she explained. “I like to be able to put all my guys in the same room and have people be surprised that they were styled by the same person.”’
As for where she gets her inspiration? Urbinati says it comes from all over the place. “I read a lot of books, look at a lot of magazines and watch a lot of films. I saw an old photo of Kiss and they were wearing these amazing pinstripe suits, so I got into the idea of pinstripe suits,” the stylist dished.
And she put together a mood board of eclectic pictures to come up with the A Star is Born actor’s Golden Globes look. “We’re doing custom for Bradley for the Globes and it was fun putting together all of the images and references: it’s super random images that you wouldn’t think of, like old photos mixed with pop culture photos. It’s like, ‘How is this going together?’”
But Urbinati makes sure to not take herself too seriously when doing her job. “I try not to think about it too much because the guys that look the best have thought that goes into it, but it’s also kind of fun and effortless. It’s always that mixture of putting your heart into it, but also having it feel fun because at the end of the day it’s clothes,” she told Stylish.
