The great-grandson of oil tycoon Armand Hammer, actor Armie Hammer was born on August 28, 1986. As a child, Hammer split his time between Los Angeles and the Cayman Islands.
Hammer made his feature film debut in 2006’s Flicka and made guest appearances on several TV shows: Arrested Development, Veronica Mars, Desperate Housewives and Gossip Girl.
In 2010, Hammer played the now-famous Winklevoss twins in The Social Network. He was then cast as Clyde Tolson in J. Edgar and Prince Andrew Alcott in Mirror Mirror. He will play the titular character in 2013’s The Lone Ranger, opposite Johnny Depp, who will play Tonto.
Hammer married television personality Elizabeth Chambers on May 22, 2010. They own a bakery in Texas. The twosome — who share daughter Harper and son Ford — announced their split in July 2020.
In January 2021, Hammer was accused of sending several women graphic text messages about his sexual fantasies including rape, mutilation and cannibalism. The actor was also accused of sexual assault, all of which he has continually denied.
