Well played, Karen Gillan! The 25-year-old Doctor Who actress surprised her fans at Comic-Con on Saturday, July 20, by wearing a red wig and revealing a newly shaved head.
Gillan, who is set to star in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, posed on the Marvel Studios Press Line in San Diego, Calif. sporting shoulder-length red hair and parted bangs. But the hairdo turned out to be fake.
During the film’s panel, a fan pointed out that Gillan’s character Nebula is supposed to be bald. “Yeah, she is — and I might have done something a little bit crazy,” she said, as she pulled off her wig and revealed her bald head underneath.
“It’s liberating,” Gillan told the crowd, reports Just Jared. “I think everyone here should shave their heads.”
