Getting a leg up! Duchess Kate Middleton flashed her thighs thanks to a sultry slit while visiting secondary school Stewards Academy in Harlow, Essex, on Friday, September 16.
The Duchess of Cambridge, 34, stepped out in the powder blue Altuzarra Aimee Polka Dot Button-Front Dress ($2,150, neimanmarcus.com) that featured a bold (for royalty, at least) slit detail running up her left leg. Middleton balanced the eye-catching accents of the otherwise modest number with neutral accessories, including nude pumps and a matching box clutch, both by L.K.Bennett. Delicate dangling earrings and a coordinating necklace added extra sparkle to the ensemble.
The mother of George, 3, and Charlotte, 16 months, and her husband, Prince William, were at the school to promote the Heads Together campaign, which aims to support those with mental health issues. The program was established in May by the royal couple in partnership with Prince Harry.
In a blog post written ahead of the event, Prince William outlined exactly how important the initiative is to him as a father. “The truth is, for many young people, changing schools or starting a new academic year is really difficult to deal with,” he explained. “Catherine and I have young children who will be going through this themselves in a short period of time, and like all parents, we will want to make sure that our children are not just able to achieve their academic potential at school but are also happy and emotionally supported.”
He added, “If we could end the old-fashioned idea that feeling down is something to be ashamed of, something that you shouldn’t burden others with, we would make our society a much happier and healthier place. By encouraging children to talk and to get support, we could stop these feelings developing into more serious problems that continue into adulthood.”
