Kate Moss threw playful shade at her late friend and idol David Bowie, lovingly calling him a “bitch” after he cheekily mocked her for not fitting into one of his iconic stage outfits years ago.

“I was just so happy because the last time I’d worn his clothes, I couldn’t get in them properly, because it, you know, it was just after I’d had a baby, and it was like, one of my first jobs back,” the model, 51, told Nick Grimshaw during her Monday, September 22, appearance on the BBC Radio 6 Music podcast, referencing the time she returned to work following the birth of her daughter, Lila, in 2002.

“When I interviewed [Bowie] for Q [their first meeting in 2003] he was like: ‘So, I hear the clothes didn’t really fit you?’ He was such a bitch! He really was quite cutting,” Moss spilled on the show, going on to praise Bowie for having the gift of gab.

“But no, obviously fabulous, because that’s banter isn’t it. He had banter.”

Moss later wore one of Bowie’s iconic Ziggy Stardust tour costumes, designed by Kansai Yamamoto, to accept the star’s “Best British Male” award on his behalf at the 2014 BRITs. (Bowie died in January 2016 after being diagnosed with liver cancer. He was 69.)

During her podcast appearance, Moss also shared a cherished final memory with the hitmaker, recalling a message she recorded for him, singing Mr. Bojangles with a sign reading “Happy Birthday DB.”

The model now hosts a new eight-part podcast series, “David Bowie: Changeling,” which explores his artistic evolution between 1970 and 1975, ahead of which she gushed about their special bond.

“When the chance came to dive into this extraordinary five-year chapter of Bowie’s life for 6 Music and BBC Sounds, hearing from those who joined him on his creative journey and those he continues to inspire, I was excited to help share the story of such an incredible transformation,” Moss said in a statement.
