Lourdes Leon continues to be the coolest, embracing her natural body hair while celebrating her mom Madonna’s 62nd birthday.

In an Instagram post the Queen of Pop shared on Tuesday, August 18, the 23-year-old is seen rocking some underarm hair as she poses and snaps a selfie with her mom. “Thankful for my Children on my Birthday and Every day,” the pop star wrote in the accompanying caption. “They are full of ♥️, creativity, intelligence and🔥.”

Though Leon likes to spend most of her time out of the spotlight, this wouldn’t be the first time she’s sported body hair at a big event. Back in 2018, she attended the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Anniversary Event in New York City wearing a little white dress with unshaved armpits and legs.

Then again, her mom has always been open about embracing it! In a 2014 Instagram, the icon shared a snap of her underarm hair, captioning the pic, “Long hair… Don’t Care!!!!!!”

Since then, lots of other celebs have jumped on the bandwagon. For instance, Halsey appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone in July 2019 with some slight stubble under her arms. And Amandla Stenberg walked the red carpet for the Hate U Give European premiere in a plunging Valentino gown with some underarm hair showing.

When Emily Ratajkowski appeared in the Harper’s Bazaar September issue with hair under her arms, she wrote about the ‘hyper femininity’ she feels when going au naturel.

“If I decide to shave my armpits or grow them out, that’s up to me,” she said. “For me, body hair is another opportunity for women to exercise their ability to choose — a choice based on how they want to feel and their associations with having or not having body hair.”

She continued, “There is no right answer, no choice that makes me more or less of a feminist, or even a ‘bad feminist,’ to borrow from Roxane Gay. As long as the decision is my choice, then it’s the right choice. Ultimately, the identity and sexuality of an individual is up to them and no one else.”
