The next Bethenny? Nicole Richie looked slim and polished in a fashionable beige shag coat this week — thanks to her 6-year-old daughter Harlow. The designer quipped in an Instagram photo on Wednesday, Dec. 17, that she rummaged through her little one's closet before heading out to a red carpet event.
"Thanks for letting me borrow your jacket Harlow," the 33-year-old captioned the selfie. Joel Madden's wife wore the oversized children's jacket to host the Baby2Baby Holiday Event in L.A. that same day. She wore minimal makeup and a white see-through top and tight-fitted jeans.
Richie's previously gushed about her baby girl's fashion sense, even naming her House of Harlow 1960 jewelry line after her in 2009. Back in February, she told model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley that Harlow is more of "an artist" when she gets dolled up. "She's into playing with makeup; she loves doing her hair and putting outfits together," Richie said, via Philadelphia magazine. "She's just so feminine—and way more girlie than me."
She added of her own style: "I'm hugely inspired by the '60s and the '70s. I just love the music of that time and the overall freedom of that era. I love that the idea of clashing didn't really exist. You could mix prints on prints, you could mix fabrics and colors—and it was more about the way you felt than about the label and trends."
Richie is inventive with her looks, but her recent daring move could cause her severe backlash. In July, returning Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel got bombarded with negative comments when she wore her 4-year-old daughter Bryn's Hello Kitty nightgown and pajama shorts for an Instagram photo op. Three months later, a judge ordered her to stop wearing Bryn's clothing amid her bitter divorce battle with ex Jason Hoppy.
