Olivia Rodrigo handled a glam faux pas like a total superstar on the Guts World Tour.
Rodrigo, 21, wasn’t afraid to pull out her loose hair extensions while singing and dancing on stage in Melbourne, Australia, on Monday, October 14. As she whipped her long brunette strands around, Rodrigo seemed to notice when an extension came loose — but hid it so well that fans barely noticed. She spun in circles while grabbing the curl and swiftly yanked it out of her mane. Rodrigo then held the lock in her hand as she threw her arms in the air and jumped up and down on stage without missing a beat.
But the extension drama didn’t stop there: Later during the show, Rodrigo had another hair malfunction as she sang her hit song, “Deja Vu,” from her freshmore album, Sour, which she released in 2021. When the singer ruffled her strands a second time, a bracelet got tangled in her roots, making her tug the jewelry until it came out.
This time, fans were quick to comment on the mishap, collectively praising Rodrigo for not losing her cool via TikTok on Monday. Because, hey, a rogue extension can happen to anybody, even pop stars.
@sweetcreatureco ouch …. only realised she did this watching my videos back the next morning 😭 #oliviarodrigo #gutstour #gutstourmelbourne @Olivia Rodrigo
“The way she keeps her composure during a wardrobe malfunction,” one follower observed, as another shared, “I didn’t even notice OMG.” More jumped in to question whether her bracelet getting stuck in her hair was the cause of the extension gone rogue: “So, this was why she was holding a chunk of her hair??? Poor livvy.”
Rodrigo’s tresses weren’t the only thing that caused a stir at her Melbourne show on Monday evening. While running across the stage mid-song, she tumbled backward and fell into a trap door. Cue the audience yelping in horror for their beloved Rodrigo (who by that point, was out of sight but hopefully not too badly hurt).
As they say, the show must go on, and the Grammy-winning singer did just that when she returned to the stage.“Oh my God, that was fun! I’m OK,” she yelled to the crowd Adding: “Sometimes there’s just a hole in the stage. That’s alright!”
Throughout her Guts World Tour, Rodrigo has proven that she can roll with the punches. In case you missed it, during another concert in May in London, her corset suddenly broke open while she (coincidentally) sang “Love Is Embarrassing.”
True to form, she handled the sartorial faux pas with aplomb and grace, kindly asking one of her faithful backup dancers to help tie her top back on. Crisis averted.
