We’ve all been there! Tyra Banks had a little wardrobe malfunction during her Dancing With the Stars hosting debut and it’s oh so relatable.
On Monday, September 14, the 46-year-old model made her first appearance as the host for the ABC reality show. Towards the end of the 2-hour live episode, Banks revealed that she lost her statement earring.
“What’s also weird is I just lost an earring,” the host said after asking Nelly about his salsa dance with pro partner Daniella Karagach. “And I promised everybody that I’m going to keep it real real.”
“This earring, I might pass it to you Carrie Ann [Inaba],” she said as she held up the piece of dangly jewelry. “You want me to hold it?” Inaba asked.
“Yes!” Banks replied. “Alright, let’s get your scores. Here, take this earring, girl. Catch! Score!”
As adorable as this moment was, many fans had mixed reactions to the America’s Next Top Model alum’s role on the hit dance show.
“Tyra banks has ruined dancing with the stars.. she tries to be funny but keeps falling flat…#bringtomback #DancingWiththeStars,” one person tweeted. Meanwhile others asked, “Can I vote @tyrabanks off of Dancing with the Star?!”
Back in July, it was announced that Banks would replace longtime hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews. And it’s the departure of these staples that many people missed Monday night.
“The problem w/ Tyra Banks as host is that you’ve replaced the heart of the show,” one user tweeted. “Nothing against her, but it just sounds so off when you hear her voice instead of Tom Bergeron’s. On a year where people WANT comfort of the familiar… it’s just a really poor decision.”
