Giving it their all. Over the years, stars have left their mark on the Grammys red carpet with their over the top beauty looks.
Lady Gaga made a name for herself by wearing some outrageous ensembles to high-profile events. The singer previously opened up about her unique approach to fashion, telling Vogue in 2021, “I’m not interested in fashion being functional for everyday life. It’s about being functional for art. I love becoming art.”
The House of Gucci actress turned heads when she arrived at the 64th Grammy Awards wearing a one-shoulder black and white gown by Armani Privé. The look featured a sweeping white train and open back — which she completed with an updo that showed off her jewelry by Tiffany & Co.
Gaga’s stunning appearance at the awards show came after she previously paid tribute to David Bowie‘s Life on Mars music video with bold blood orange hair and fierce eye makeup. For the New York native, the late musician “changed” her life with his music.
“Well, the moment that I saw the Aladdin Sane cover for the first time, I was 19 years old, and it just changed my perspective on everything, forever,” she said on NPR in 2016, shortly after her Grammys appearance. “It was an image that changed my life. I remember I took the vinyl record out of the casing and I put it on my vinyl player — which was on my stovetop in my kitchen, because I was living in this really tiny apartment and I had my turntable on my stove.”
She added: “That was just the beginning of my artistic birth. I started to dress more expressively. I started to go to the library and look through more art books. I took an art history class. I was playing with a band.”
Gaga later offered a candid glimpse at how she dealt with the fame that came with her iconic red carpet looks.
“There was a long time when I didn’t think that I could heal from becoming famous at such a young age, and what it did to my brain,” she told Vogue in 2021. “But I feel ready to declare myself whole. We will never all be fully whole but it’s certainly enough. I have a lot of gratitude for joy. It’s been pretty recent, yes. I would say over the past two years.”
