Buckingham Palace officials confirmed to The Times of London on Friday, July 10, that Charles, 77, and wife Queen Camilla hosted the king’s son Prince Harry and his family at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire, England.

The outlet reported that the meeting was a “private family occasion.” Us Weekly has reached out for comment.

Harry, 41, and his wife, Meghan Markle, recently traveled across the pond from their home in California with Archie, 7, and Lili, 5, in tow as the Duke of Sussex celebrated the countdown to the next Invictus Games.

Harry and Meghan, 44, welcomed Archie in London in 2019, one year before the couple stepped down from their duties as senior working royals and moved abroad to California. The duo welcomed Lilibet in 2021.

Harry and Meghan’s move soon fostered a rift with Charles and his eldest son, Prince William, further fueled by the 2023 release of Harry’s memoir, Spare, which detailed their strained relationship.

“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” Harry told the BBC in May 2025 after losing his latest court appeal for security on any visits to England. “There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family.”

The duke last visited Charles in February 2024 after the monarch was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer.

“I love my family,” Harry told Good Morning America that month. “The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that. I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could.”

He added at the time, “I’ve got other trip plans that will take me through the U.K., or back to the U.K. So, I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can.”

While Harry traveled to London on multiple occasions since then, Meghan often remained in her native California with Archie and Lili.

“It’s a dream, but I also know that being part of a community means you put effort into it,” the former Suits star told People in March 2025 of her life in Montecito.  “Once you know us, I think you want us to have the same normalcy as parents and for our children as they do, despite however unique our situation is. … We go to a lot of dinners, and not just in people’s homes or private rooms; we just go into the restaurant. I really love that we can just have fun.”

Meghan and the children are not expected to make any official engagements with Harry on his summer trip.

The Duke of Sussex, 41, was spotted at an event in Birmingham, England, on Friday, July 10, without wife Meghan Markle, as their U.K. trip continues. Harry appeared in good spirits despite his wife’s absence, smiling as he took part in several sporting events.

Harry arrived at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre, where next year’s Invictus Games is set to take place, and reunited with some former Invictus Games competitors. Together, Harry and the athletes showcased some of the new sports that will be included in next year’s event.

According to several videos shared via social media, Harry took part in a game of wheelchair rugby. He also played pickleball and Laser Run, which are two of the newer events.

Harry’s Invictus Games is scheduled for July 10, 2027, through July 17, 2027. The week-long event was founded by Harry in 2014 and features an international competition between wounded, injured and sick military personnel and veterans.

It was initially reported that Meghan, 44, planned to step out alongside her husband while in the U.K. However, People reported on Thursday, July 9, that she would not be making any public appearances during their visit.

The Duke of Sussex’s recent U.K. trip wasn’t without its drama. Prior to traveling across the pond, Harry’s team has claimed that Buckingham Palace offered — and subsequently withdrew — an invitation for him to stay there.

No Invites for Invictus Games 2027 Have Been Issued Despite Recent Report

“Following RAVEC’s [Royal and VIP Executive Committee] decision not to provide security for his family, the duke spent last week making alternative security arrangements,” a spokesperson for Harry shared on Monday, July 6. “Once those arrangements were in place, he was able to formally accept the offer of accommodation for himself over the weekend. It is therefore disappointing that the offer has now been withdrawn.”

Harry’s team claimed that the judgement in his recent case against the Daily Mail’s publisher, Associated Newspapers Limited, was partially to blame. (Harry lost his phone hacking case against the company on Tuesday, July 7.)

“Buckingham Palace has, however, been aware of that judgment since last Thursday,” the statement concluded. “It is therefore unclear why, having formally accepted the accommodation offer, it has now been withdrawn at the last moment.”

Several BBC and ITV News sources claimed that Harry accepted Buckingham Palace’s offer too late. Us Weekly reached out for comment at the time.

In perhaps his most famous legal battle, the Duke of Sussex fought against the loss of state-funded police protection in the United Kingdom after stepping down from the royal family. Harry’s legal team argued that he and wife Meghan Markle — as well as their children, son Prince Archie and daughter Princess Lilibet — remain high-profile figures even though they are no longer working royals.

In 2022, Harry asked for a judicial review after England’s Home Office said private individuals cannot use state security even if they offer to pay for it themselves. Nearly one year later, in May 2023, Harry’s request to privately pay police officers to protect his family while in the U.K. was denied.

By February 2024, the High Court issued a dismissal of Harry’s security claim, which he appealed in June of that year. Harry officially lost his appeal in May 2025.

Mirror Group Newspapers

Harry is part of a group suing Mirror Group Newspapers, which owns the Daily Mirror, for allegedly hacking into celebrities’ voicemails to obtain personal information. MGN has denied Harry’s claims that reporters accessed his voicemails and argued that they are not liable for any allegations predating October 2000, when the U.K.’s 1998 Human Rights Act went into effect. Harry testified in the case in June 2023, becoming the first royal to take the stand in 130 years.

Status: In December 2023, a judge ruled in Harry’s favor, finding “sufficient proof” that the publisher “engaged in unlawful information gathering, including phone hacking,” according to court documents obtained by Us.

Where Harry and Meghan Stand With Each Member of the Royal Family

News Group Newspapers

Harry is also suing News Group Newspapers, which owns The Sun, for alleged unlawful information gathering for stories published in the company’s tabloids. In April 2023, Harry also claimed that his brother, Prince William, settled with NGN for a “very large sum” in 2020. In a court filing, he alleged that the royal family had a “secret agreement” with NGN which prevented members of the royal family from filing lawsuits against the company.

NGN has previously admitted that phone hacking took place at News of the World, which closed in 2011. The company also claimed no wrongdoing ever took place at The Sun and has denied Harry’s claims about a secret deal with the royal family.

Judge Timothy Fancourt ruled in July 2023 that the case can move forward on allegations of unlawful information gathering, but Harry’s phone hacking claims were thrown out for falling outside the six-year time limit for bringing a case. Fancourt also said Harry failed to produce any evidence that the “secret agreement” between NGN and the royal family ever existed.

Status: Harry settled the suit in January 2025.

Associated Newspapers Limited (Defamation)

Harry filed a lawsuit against Associated Newspapers Limited, which owns the Daily Mail, over a February 2022 article that appeared in the Mail on Sunday. Harry claimed that the story libeled him by suggesting that he lied in his initial public statements about his police protection lawsuit. A lawyer for the newspaper, meanwhile, argued that Harry’s legal team was “straitjacketing the newspaper’s right to comment.”

Status: A judge ruled in July 2022 that the article was defamatory and the case can move forward with a trial. However, Harry withdrew his libel case in January 2024.

Associated Newspapers Limited (Phone Hacking)

Harry’s other lawsuit against Associated Newspapers Limited includes claims similar to those in his cases against MGN and NGN. He is part of a group of celebrities — including Elton John and Elizabeth Hurley — suing Associated for allegedly hacking their phones to obtain personal information. Associated denied the allegations and argued the phone hacking claims are too old for legal action.

In October 2025, it was reported that Harry’s brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Princess Kate Middleton, were named in a High Court hearing. Multiple U.K. outlets, including The Times, shared that Harry’s lawyers alleged that Kate and William were also targets of the alleged phone hacking.

The trial began in January 2026, where Harry took the stand and tearfully declared that British tabloid publications are making Meghan’s life “an absolute misery.”

Status: News broke in July 2026 that Harry and the other high-profile names involved lost their case. High Court Judge Mr Justice Nicklin stated that their claims were not proven.

“The Court rejected the attempt to prove the claims by broad inference where there remained a legitimate and realistic possible lawful source pathway, or where the article-specific evidence did not prove that the relevant information must have been obtained unlawfully,” a summary of the judgement read, according to Deadline.

Government-Funded Police Protection

While Harry lost his bid to pay for police protection himself, he still has a pending case against the government that could restore state-funded security for him and his family during their U.K. visits. In July 2022, Judge Jonathan Swift ruled that Harry can move forward with his petition for a judicial review of RAVEC’s original 2020 decision to remove publicly funded security for him and his family. RAVEC, the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures, is responsible for providing security for individuals who are deemed in need of public security.

Harry’s legal team has argued that RAVEC’s decision was unreasonable because Harry was not allowed to make “informed representations beforehand.” Harry appealed the decision in June 2024 and fought for government-protected security in court the following year.

Status: Harry lost his appeal for government-funded protection in May 2025. Several months later in January 2026, the RAVEC conducted a review of Harry’s risk assessment and ruled in the duke’s favor.

Kate, 44, was seen spending the day with patients at Evelina London Children’s Hospital on Monday, July 6, where she interacted with a 10-year-old boy named Ejran.

When Ejran lovingly asked Kate if she was the queen’s daughter, the princess quickly responded with a smile before giving a somewhat cheeky response. (It was unclear if the young boy was referring to Queen Camilla or the late Queen Elizabeth II, who died in 2022.)

“No, I am the Princess of Wales,” Kate replied, sharing that she was visiting because she had seen the “amazing work” occurring at the hospital.

In 2024, Kate shared that she had been diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer and subsequently underwent a preventative round of chemotherapy treatment. Kate shared the following year that she was in remission. In June, Kate shared a candid message about the effects of cancer that go far beyond the physical.

“Every year, hundreds of thousands of people in this country hear the words no one wants to hear,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “What follows is a path that tests every part of who we are: physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually. “I have taken on the National Three Peaks Challenge, not simply as a physical endeavour but as a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back,” Kate wrote. “The Royal Marsden is a place that holds great meaning for me and whose care and expertise are life changing for so many people.”

She continued, “Through this challenge, I want to raise awareness for the deeper impact of serious illness and the importance of holistic healthcare. Every individual is different, and ensuring there is a whole person approach to care enables those living through cancer to manage the deeply personal challenge of diagnosis. Holistic therapies complement clinical pathways and support patients’ ability to maintain their wellbeing, resilience and quality of life during an exceptionally difficult time.”

Kate noted that there’s an “opportunity to reshape what the future of holistic cancer care looks like, enabling more people, nationwide, to access the kind of personalised support that can help make a meaningful difference during and after medical treatment.”

“This challenge will support the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, helping to transform access to, and understanding of, holistic care that will enhance recovery and healing for patients across the UK,” she wrote.

She continued, “Healing, whether personal or collective, is not just about fixing what is wrong. It is about finding balance in how we live. Inside the Royal Family's Deepening Divide Ahead of Prince Harry's Return

According to the BBC and ITV News, citing Buckingham Palace sources, Harry, 41, accepted the invitation to stay at the palace too late. The BBC report said that a deadline to formally accept accommodation was set for the end of last week, while ITV News reported the prince as only accepting the offer on Saturday, July 4. Harry was reportedly told of the decision over the weekend.

Harry is due in the U.K. this week to promote the 2027 Invictus Games, which will take place in Birmingham, England, next year. He will take part in a series of public and private engagements across the U.K., a spokesperson previously confirmed.

On Tuesday, the U.K.’s High Court will also give its ruling in a lawsuit brought against Associated Newspapers Limited by several high-profile names, including Harry, Elton John and actress Elizabeth Hurley. The group is accusing the publisher of publishing stories about them between 1993 and 2011 using information that was unlawfully obtained. A 10-week trial began in January.

The BBC and ITV News reported that palace sources expressed concerns about Harry staying at a royal residence on the day of the verdict.

On Saturday, July 4, the BBC reported that Harry would not be joined on the trip to London by his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, despite previous reports that the family might travel to the U.K. together for the first time in years. The broadcaster reported that it is possible Meghan, 44, and the children could join Harry in Birmingham, however.

Harry and Meghan lost their taxpayer-funded security when they stepped down as senior working royals in 2020 and moved to the U.S. In May 2025, he lost an appeal to reinstate his security.

“I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point,” Harry told the BBC after losing the appeal, citing safety concerns for his family.

“This time last week, completing the National Three Peaks Challenge,” the princess of Wales, 44, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, July 5, alongside a slew of photographs featuring the royal family at the mountaineering event, which takes place across various mountains located in Scotland, England and Wales.

“My father hates football,” William, 44, claimed on the Friday, July 3, episode of the “New Heights” podcast, referring to dad King Charles. “My family haven’t got a particularly long history with football, [though] there are a few of us who support teams. My football love came from friends taking me to my first match.”

He continued, “At school growing up, you can’t avoid the football chat. It’s everywhere, and some … some childhood friends of mine took me to my first game.”

William’s school peers brought him to an Aston Villa game, soon sparking a lifelong interest in cheering for the team. “Cancer doesn’t just affect the body. It changes how you think and feel and profoundly affects every aspect of life,” she wrote on Sunday. “I know this personally and that the journey through and beyond treatment requires more than medicine alone.”

For Kate, taking part in the National Three Peaks Challenge helped raise awareness for “holistic cancer care.”

“This challenge will support the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, helping to transform access to, and understanding of, holistic care that will enhance recovery and healing for patients across the UK,” Kate continued at the time. “Healing, whether personal or collective, is not just about fixing what is wrong. It is about finding balance in how we live. Between effort and acceptance, between control and trust, between thinking and simply being. Because in the end, bravery isn’t just about pushing forward. It is about knowing how to stay grounded, connected and present, no matter the terrain or landscape you are walking.”

According to the source, right now there is “no expectation” that William attends the visit, but that could change.

“At this time, William is not planning to be there, but things could change. Kate has been trying to convince William to meet with Harry, Meghan and the kids,” the insider says of the Princess of Wales, 44, in the latest cover story. “She is interested in seeing the kids, as well. These opportunities to see Archie and Lilibet haven’t happened before, so when they found out they were coming, it was a shock. They are trying to make this work because the opportunities are so limited.”

The source adds, “She is hoping that William will show up, but she will respect his decision.”

Harry and Meghan had stepped back from their duties as senior working royals in 2020, subsequently moving to California with their kids. The couple’s decision soon sparked a rift with Harry’s father, King Charles III, and brother William, 44.

The source further claims that William would only meet with Harry “when he’s ready.”

“This is not on William’s timeline, it’s on Harry’s,” the source alleges. “They also weren’t expecting Harry to come to the U.K. with Meghan and the kids, so he’s been hesitant. If he is not ready yet, a reunion won’t happen.”

The insider also tells Us that Charles, 77, has been hopeful to schedule a meeting with Harry and Meghan on their upcoming trip.

“The king is realistic about the challenges of rebuilding the relationship and knows it is going to take time,” the source adds. “[Queen] Camilla has been very supportive of the efforts to improve the relationship. There is definitely excitement, and Charles is also optimistic about this. He’s hoping it’s the first step toward repairing the relationship between Harry and William, as well.”

The insider adds, “These opportunities to see Archie and Lilibet haven’t happened before, so when they found out they were coming, it was a shock. They are trying to make this work because the opportunities are so limited.”

William and Harry last came face to face at Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.

“Just recently, my brother and I were walking the same route. We sort of joked to each other and said, ‘At least we know the way,” Harry said during an ITV interview in January 2023, referring to mom Princess Diana’s 1997 funeral. “The only difference was the levels of emotion because our grandmother had finished life. There was more, I think, of a celebration and respect and recognition to what she had accomplished whereas our mother was taken away far too young.”

Despite their estrangement, King Charles III has invited the family of four to stay at a royal residence during their visit. “He’s made it clear their comfort and security is a priority,” says a source. “Everyone’s buzzing with excitement, saying this might be the first step in mending the relationship at large.”

The olive branch certainly seems like a good sign, but there’s no question the royal family at large remains fractured. And the widest rifts are between Harry and his older brother, Prince William, and Charles and his younger brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (formerly Prince Andrew). William, 44, is angry at Harry, 41, for airing the royal family’s dirty laundry in his 2023 memoir, Spare, and in TV interviews, while Charles, 77, stripped Andrew, 66, of his titles and royal status last fall over his ties to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

For Charles and William — who’s set to succeed his father to the throne — their loyalty to the crown only complicates matters. “This is a family for whom, for many years, duties come first, and I think that it’s a very difficult balance, because there are human beings involved and at the end of the day, siblings involved,” says royal expert Emily Nash. “You don’t want to turn your back on them completely, but at the same time, you have to protect the institution.”

The once-close brothers are currently not in contact. “There’s no direct communication, no texts, no calls, no emails, nothing,” says the source. While they share a history (“there are only two people alive who know what their childhood was like,” the source explains) and grief over their late mom, Princess Diana, as well as concerns over their father’s health (Charles revealed his cancer diagnosis in 2024), there’s “no movement” toward a reconciliation. “Harry is not Andrew, and he never will be, but William isn’t ready [to make up].”

William hasn’t forgiven Harry for speaking out against The Firm in Spare, the 2022 Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, and in his bombshell 2021 TV interview with Meghan. “[That] created a public, permanent record,” explains the source. “The fly in the ointment has always been William’s ongoing beef with his brother over the Sussexes’ notorious [TV] interview, and the broadsides Harry delivered to the royal family in his memoir,” notes Christopher Andersen, author of Kate!: The Courage, Grace, and Power of the Woman Who Will Be Queen.

Harry, meanwhile, has his own trust issues. A second source tells Us Weekly he worries about “stories being planted in the UK press that are anti-Meghan and Harry and pro-Charles and William.” The father of two previously accused Princess Kate and William’s press office of leaking negative stories about him and Meghan to British news outlets to sway public opinion. “That concern is not something that will go away,” the second source says.

The first source believes the brothers still carry sadness over their falling out. “Harry misses William more than he misses ‘the institution.’ He misses having someone who doesn’t need anything explained,” shares the source, adding they believe William feels the same way, even if he doesn’t say it directly. “William’s desire [to see Harry] exists at a level he hasn’t given himself permission to act on yet.” Adds Nash: “I think there’s almost certainly sadness on both sides, but this is the situation they’re in, and they have to make the best of it.”

According to Andersen, the siblings are unlikely to meet up when Harry’s in town. “Is there a sliver of hope? Yes,” Andersen says, adding that it’s more probable that “the Waleses and the Sussexes will assiduously avoid each other.” Nash echoes that there are “no plans” for Harry and William to cross paths. “There’s no communication there at present. It’s very sad for all involved, but they’re both very busy getting on with their lives, and I think Harry does have a bit more of a relationship with his father, so perhaps he will focus his efforts there for now.”

Kate and Meghan are following their husbands’ leads. “They are waiting for William and Harry to decide what’s going to happen,” says the first source, adding, “Kate would love her children to have a relationship with their cousins, and she is interested in seeing the kids as well. But she will respect William’s decision.”

There’s talk that William and Harry will mend fences — eventually. “They will patch things up in the future,” the first source says. (As for connecting over the 29th anniversary of their mom’s tragic death in August, the source says they grieve “separately.”) In a June 22 interview with The Times, William and Harry’s former private secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton weighed in on a possible thaw between the future king and his younger brother, saying, “I was and am very fond of [Harry]. He has huge redeeming features, and I’m a perennial optimist.”

Charles is stuck in the middle of his sons. “He’s felt as if he were caught in the crossfire,” says Andersen. “But if he had to pick a side, he sympathizes [more] with William.” Nash says Charles and Kate’s cancer battles have bonded them. (Kate revealed she was in remission in early 2025.) “That’s brought Charles and William together,” she says.

Harry hopes to see his dad during his trip. The father and son last met in September 2025, spending roughly an hour together at Charles’ Clarence House residence. While the first source tells Us Charles is handling security matters for the visit, Andersen insists the subject remains a touchy one. Harry lost his initial court case to have taxpayer-funded security while he’s in the UK with Meghan and his children in May 2025; at the time, he said he couldn’t “see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK” without protection. However, in January 2026, the Mail on Sunday reported that Harry and his family would be allowed government-funded security during trips to his home country after a new risk assessment from the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC).

“Even if they iron out all the details, there’s no guarantee the king will set aside more than a few minutes to meet Harry and his family,” Andersen says. They are “trying to align everyone’s schedules,” says the first source, adding, “the king wants to spend time with Archie and Lilibet. They are seeing if they can have a couple of shared meals together and some casual family time.”

William understands his father’s desire to maintain a relationship with Harry and his grandchildren. “He would not stand in the way of that,” notes the source. “There are mixed emotions about him seeing Harry given their history, but William’s feelings about Harry and his father’s happiness are two separate matters, so he won’t get involved.” However, Andersen believes that without William “signing off on a full-blown reconciliation, Charles will probably just be going through the motions — if he sees Harry at all.”

Charles and his younger brother — who was arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct while in public office — haven’t been in contact in months. (Andrew was released from jail hours after being questioned.) “Charles called Andrew [when he stripped him of his titles] and [let him know he] had no choice. They haven’t spoken since,” says the first source, adding, “they have no relationship.” Nash agrees, telling Us the brothers’ relationship is likely “incredibly strained.”

Where Harry and Meghan Stand With Each Member of the Royal Family

Like William and Harry, the siblings were also once tight. “Andrew could make Charles laugh,” the first source says. “Andrew was the loud, crazy one, where Charles was measured and refined.” Charles found Andrew’s scandalous behavior increasingly exhausting. (Andrew was previously accused of sexually assaulting a then-17-year-old woman named Virginia Giuffre; they settled for an undisclosed amount of money in 2022. She died by suicide in 2025.) “Charles doesn’t agree with Andrew’s choices and is devastated by the scandal,” says the source. “It felt like a death.”

Charles feels Andrew posed a serious threat to the monarchy. “I don’t think anyone believed the king would act so decisively, but it’s to his credit that he did,” says Andersen, adding, “Andrew’s downfall was inevitable. To say he felt entitled to do whatever he pleased would be a gross understatement.” Adds Nash: “Charles has come out in support of victims, and that sends a powerful message. He would like for Andrew’s scandal to not be a stain on his reign.”

Nash tells Us that Charles and William are “in lockstep” about the decisions regarding Andrew’s removal from royal life. “They are in full agreement about this,” she says. “I think there have been times in the past where perhaps one or the other didn’t quite see the same things, but they’re both resolute about this. They’ve taken the steps they needed to take.”

Andrew — who was booted by Charles from his longtime home at Royal Lodge and is now living at Marsh Farm on Charles’ Sandringham Estate — is keeping his distance. “He stopped answering most calls,” says the first source. “He takes a lot of walks and asked someone to send him his model soldiers from storage, so he’s been [keeping busy with] hobbies.”

The royals are clearly far from exempt from family drama. “They may be royals, but they’re still a family, and the dynamics are the same whether you’re a king or a coal miner,” says Andersen, pointing out that even Queen Elizabeth and her sister, Princess Margaret, famously had their differences. The author also notes that The Firm is made up of several camps that have long competed for attention and money to fund their various causes. “Inevitably, their egos get tied up in all of this,” he explains. “Charles used to hate being overshadowed by Diana, and Harry and Meghan decided they couldn’t live out their days playing second fiddle to William and Kate.”

Now, Charles has the most at stake. He’s caught between his fractured relationship with Andrew, his strained bond with Harry and the ongoing feud between his two sons. “He wants to be seen as a strong monarch,” says Andersen. “He really has to be the glue that holds everything together.”

The future king of England met Swift in 2013 at the Centrepoint Winter Whites Gala at Kensington Palace, where the duo joined Jon Bon Jovi onstage for an impromptu rendition of “Livin’ on a Prayer.”

When William celebrated his 42nd birthday in June 2024, he decided to do so in style by attending Swift’s Eras Tour with George, 12, and Charlotte at Wembley Stadium in London.

After the show, William and his eldest children hung out with Swift and Kelce, 36, who was also in the crowd.

A separate insider told Us that Swift and Kelce “really wanted their wedding in Rhode Island, and June 13 was the date, but security wouldn’t have worked because it could get out of hand with that kind of scale of an event.”

“Everything was being planned in Rhode Island,” the source added. “And so many people wanted to come that plans had to change because it became bigger.”

However, Rowling’s meeting with the queen has sparked major backlash against the royal family.

“As an admirer of the Queen and her Reading Room I’m deeply disappointed in her giving a platform to JKR, any month but especially during Pride Month,” one commenter wrote on Tuesday. “There are many other admirable individuals to spotlight who champion reading for children and young people.”

Prince Harry is exploring “every available option” so that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet can travel to the U.K.

“Prince Harry’s programme in the United Kingdom includes both public and private engagements across the country,” a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex told People on Monday, June 29. “Safe accommodation is only one element of an effective protective security plan because risk follows the person, not the place.”

Questions about security have continued to rise as Harry and wife Meghan Markle’s overseas trip nears.

“The issue has never been accommodation,” Monday’s statement continued. “The issue is whether appropriate and proportionate protective security is being provided throughout the entirety of the visit.”

They added, “The independent Risk Management Board that RAVEC itself decided was necessary last November has still not taken place. It is therefore difficult to understand how the proportionality of the current arrangements can credibly be maintained without that independent assessment.”

People also reported on Monday that a security risk assessment set to take place in March did not occur. Harry and Meghan were reportedly notified that they receive protection on royal property but not while traveling to engagements.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly planning to bring their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, across the pond for the first time in years.

He goes, ‘My love, it’s us.’  And now every day when Archie goes by us, he says, ‘Hi, Momma. Hi, Papa.’ … You walk in and [feel] joy. And exhale. And calm. It’s healing. You feel free.”

Kate’s last official public appearance before taking a break was in December 2023. One month later, Kensington Palace confirmed that Kate wouldn’t be involved in any royal engagements until after April at the earliest due to a planned abdominal surgery.

“The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery,” read a statement shared via the palace’s official X account at the time. “Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”

Due to Kate remaining out of the public eye, the public grew concerned about her wellbeing. A source previously told Us Weekly that Kate wasn’t in a rush to share details regarding her break from royal duties.

“She’s been resting up and enjoying lots of visits from Prince William and the kids,” the insider said, noting that Kate “may disclose more information in due course.”

In March, Kate released a video that confirmed her cancer diagnosis, saying, “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was noncancerous. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.”

She continued, “I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can. Despite all that has gone before, I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life.”

Kate hosted her annual “Together at Christmas” carol concert on December 6, where she addressed her difficult year.

“I didn’t know this year was going to be the year that I’ve just had,” she told singer Paloma Faith. “The unplanned. But, I think lots of people this year have had such challenging times.”

William, as well as the royal couple’s kids George, Charlotte and Louis, also attended the service.

Later that month, Kate stepped out with her family on Christmas day. She spoke with royal watchers and expressed her appreciation for those who shared their own cancer stories and journeys during her publicized health struggle.

“The amount of people who have written this year is extraordinary and I think cancer just really does resonate with so many families,” she told fans, per the Daily Mail. “People like you are doing all the hard work out there. I’m hugely grateful.”

Kate made her first public appearance in 2025 on January 14 when visiting the hospital where she underwent treatment. The Princess of Wales also updated royal watchers on her health battle, announcing in a social media post that she was officially declared in remission.

Kate reflected on finding “peace” after experiencing stress due to her cancer battle.

“Not everyone has that same relationship perhaps with nature,” she said in a video shared via the Kensington Palace social media. “But it is so therefore meaningful for me as a place to balance and find a sort of sense of peace and reconnection in what is otherwise a very busy world.”

The Princess of Wales discussed finding a “new normal” in the aftermath of her cancer treatments during a public outing at the time.

“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment,” she said. “Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult.”

Kate continued, “You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to. Someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable.”

Kate noted that it’s “a roller-coaster” of emotions and “not smooth, like you expect it to be,” after treatment. “But the reality is you go through hard times.”

Kate reflected on her cancer battle, comparing it to the movie Groundhog Day.

“You need medical support but also a holistic approach,” she said during an appearance at a London Hospital. “Creativity and nature played such a huge part in my recovery journey.”

She spoke with hospital volunteers explaining that “kindness and compassion” is integral to recovery.

“You’ve got [to] have that support from you as a team,” she added. “From a patient’s experience, it’s important things not in [the] job description.”

Kate made an appearance at the Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester, where she discussed how cancer not only impacts the patient but the entire family.

“It’s hard for the loved ones,” she was heard saying during the outing. “You need to support yourself alongside all the things you can’t control. Your body changes so much, not just physically, emotionally, but the deeper side of ourselves.

Kate added, “It puts so much in perspective and you hold onto what’s important.”

Kate detailed how her cancer battle impacted every aspect of her life in an Instagram statement.

“Every year, hundreds of thousands of people in this country hear the words no one wants to hear. What follows is a path that tests every part of who we are: physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually,” her June 28 message read. “The challenges ripple outwards, touching families, friendships, work and the quiet moments we spend alone with our thoughts.”

Kate added, “Cancer doesn’t just affect the body. It changes how you think and feel and profoundly affects every aspect of life. I know this personally, and that the journey through and beyond treatment requires more than medicine alone.”

The Princess of Wales announced her participation in the National Three Peaks Challenge — a mountaineering event across peaks in Scotland, England and Wales — to raise awareness about “the importance of holistic healthcare.”

“Every individual is different, and ensuring there is a whole person approach to care enables those living through cancer to manage the deeply personal challenge of diagnosis,” her statement continued. “Holistic therapies complement clinical pathways and support patients’ ability to maintain their wellbeing, resilience and quality of life during an exceptionally difficult time.”

Kate announced in February 2024 that she was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer, subsequently undergoing a preventative round of chemotherapy treatment. The Princess of Wales ultimately revealed in January 2025 that she is in remission.

According to Kate, participating in the National Three Peaks Challenge has allowed her to raise awareness about “the importance of holistic healthcare.”

Kate continued, “We have an opportunity to reshape what the future of holistic cancer care looks like, enabling more people, nationwide, to access the kind of personalised support that can help make a meaningful difference during and after medical treatment.”

While it’s not known the nature of Kate’s cancer treatment, she explained how holistic care can help enhance patients’ recovery and healing process.

“Healing, whether personal or collective, is not just about fixing what is wrong. It is about finding balance in how we live,” she concluded. “Between effort and acceptance, between control and trust, between thinking and simply being. Because in the end, bravery isn’t just about pushing forward. It is about knowing how to stay grounded, connected and present, no matter the terrain or landscape you are walking.”

The Royal Marsden hospital, for its part, congratulated Kate’s achievement in a separate social media statement.

“Our warmest congratulations to Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales for completing the National Three Peaks Challenge, an incredible achievement,” the message read. “We are incredibly grateful for The Princess’s support of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.”

“Honouring Service and Sacrifice,” a Saturday, June 27, upload on Kate’s official Instagram page read. “Marking Armed Forces Day by reflecting on time spent with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at RAF Coningsby.”

The post continued, “Learning about the extraordinary history of these aircraft and meeting the pilots and engineers who keep their legacy alive. Kate, 44, visited the military facility with George, 12, who nearly towered over the Princess of Wales as they explored the grounds. George also got a chance to sit in the cockpit of an aircraft, resembling dad Prince William even more than usual. (William, 44, previously served in the Royal Air Force as a pilot.)

William and Kate, who have been married since 2011, are the parents of George and his two younger siblings, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 7. In addition, George is second in line for the British throne — and will one day serve the monarchy as king.

William, who is first in line for the crown behind father King Charles III, has since been preparing George for his eventual ascension.

“It’s an interesting question, and it’s a big question, that one,” William said on an October 2025 episode of The Reluctant Traveller when asked about George’s future reign. “There’s lots of things to think about with that, but obviously, I want to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do, a world and a job that actually does impact people’s lives for the better.”

The Prince of Wales hosted Monday’s business forum, which took place during London Climate Action Week, to unite business leaders around the world on how to better tackle the illegal wildlife trade and environmental crime.

“Storytelling is really powerful, and the story that you tell as a brand and the transparency you have and the way that you talk around these issues, it matters,” Watson said. “It matters to young people.”

Watson has not had a major starring role in a movie since 2019’s Little Women, instead focusing her efforts on her philanthropic work. In addition to supporting William and Princess Kate Middleton’s Royal Foundation, she is a UN Women Global Goodwill Ambassador.

Last year, the actress gave a rare interview about her life since stepping away from Hollywood.

“My understanding is there’s no plan for him to meet with his brother,” Nash tells Us. “There’s no communication there at present time and it’s very sad for all involved, but they’re both very busy, getting on with their lives, and I think Harry does have a bit more of a relationship with his father, so perhaps he will focus his efforts there for now.”

As for a meeting with Harry’s father, Nash adds, “I think it would have to mean their diaries matching up perfectly, and they’re being willing on both sides.”
