A super surprise! Supermodels Chrissy Teigen, Nina Agdal and Lily Aldridge were shocked to learn Thursday, Feb. 13 that they were chosen to be on the cover of the 2014 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition.
Teigan and Aldridge, joined by Agdal via Skype, learned about their cover from SI Swimsuit editor MJ Day Thursday night during an online interview. An unassuming and goofy Teigen, who was mid-interview, explained how she and Aldridge were "back to back!" for their shoot on the Cook Islands.
Day then interrupted the chat and apologetically told the models, "I hate to bust this up you guys! I know… you're doing something important here." Holding an oversized cardboard cutout, Day then flipped it over and exclaimed, "You are on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue!"
Agdal's mouth immediately dropped while an emotional and incredulous Teigan quipped, "Are you being serious?" Aldridge, who's made her debut for the first time in Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue as Rookie No. 8, simply reacted by asking the editor, "Can I hug you?"
Sports Illustrated's 50th anniversary issue cover features the three girls, top and shot from the backside, wearing bright-colored bikini bottoms (Aldridge in Basta Surf). On it, the gorgeous trio smiles wide in the crystal clear South Pacific waters.
All three models are expected to join Jimmy Kimmel on his show next week.
The issue hits stands on Feb. 18. Tell Us: what do you think of the cover?
