The family of Jim Carrey‘s girlfriend, Cathriona White — who died from a suspected suicide on Monday — mourned the loss of their “beloved daughter and sister” in an emotional statement released to the Irish Independent on Tuesday, Sept. 29.

“The family of Cathriona White sincerely regret the untimely passing of their beloved daughter and sister,” the statement read. “Cathriona was a shining light in our lives who was loved deeply by her entire family. White, an Irish-born makeup artist, died at age 30 on Monday night at her home in Sherman Oaks, Calif. According to TMZ, which broke the story, White left behind a suicide note that reportedly referenced her Sept. 24 split from Carrey.

In her final tweet posted that same day, White informed her thousands of followers that the update would be her last on the social media site. “Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest,” she wrote. “[Love] to you all.”

Carrey released his own statement on Tuesday, mourning the loss of his on-again, off-again girlfriend.

“I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona,” the actor, 53, told Us Weekly in his statement. “She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.”
