Chris Pine Charged With DUI in New Zealand

Chris Pine was charged with DUI in New Zealand on March 1, and is schedule to appear in court March 17.

Should have used the transporter. Chris Pine has been charged with DUI in New Zealand, the Associated Press reported Wednesday, March 12. The Star Trek actor, 33, is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, March 17.

In a statement, New Zealand Police said a 33-year-old American was charged with drunken driving March 1 after being stopped near the South Island town of Methven. He reportedly had a blood-alcohol level over the legal .08 percent limit. The man was not named by police, and Pine's agent and publicist could not be reached for comment by the Associated Press on Wednesday.

The actor is currently filming the upcoming Z for Zachariah in New Zealand. A manager at Blue Pub, Casey Crawford, told local newspaper The Press that Pine had been celebrating a wrap on the film with model girlfriend Iris Bjork Johannesdottir on Feb. 28.

Pine reportedly left the bar around 2:30 a.m. "Chris was really good," Crawford told the newspaper. "They were a good crowd, the whole lot of them."

Z for Zachariah, directed by Craig Zobel, also stars Margot Robbie and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
