We didn’t see this photo opp coming! A candid picture of George W. Bush hugging and laughing with Hillary Clinton at Nancy Reagan’s funeral on Friday, March 11, has gone viral — and it’s predictably causing a stir on Twitter!

The photo, which was shared by CNN political director David Chalian, shows the former president of the United States with his arm wrapped around the former secretary of state and Democratic presidential hopeful, as the unlikely pair share a chuckle.

“This may be the best photo from Mrs. Reagan’s funeral,” Chalian wrote.

The controversial shot triggered a divided reaction in the Twittersphere, as several people shared their strong opinions about the two ideologically opposed leaders from rival political dynasties.

“Unity. Compassion. Understanding. Working together,” one user wrote, before another responded, “Like when they worked together for the war on iraq?”

Another critic crafted a fake quote, tweeting, “‘Heh, we really screwed up on that Iraq invasion idea, didn’t we? Good times.’”

Reagan, who died from congestive heart failure at 94 on March 6, was laid to rest at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California. Approximately 1,000 people attended the funeral for the beloved former first lady, including Michelle Obama, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Shriver, Diane Sawyer and John Stamos.
