Jessica Simpson -- who famously confused tuna with chicken because the label said "Chicken of the Sea" -- knows what she wants out of her next relationship: A guy with brains.

"I don't want to get bored," she tells Extra in an interview airing Friday. "I can bore out pretty easily, so I love intellectual men ... people that will always keep me intrigued."

"I definitely love a spiritual man -- somebody that is going to always inspire me," says the singer, who was dumped by Tony Romo the day before her 29th birthday in July. "And, you know, I love artistic men -- somebody that really understands their art."

Simpson recently returned from India - with a Henna "tattoo" - where she filmed more scenes for her upcoming VH1 reality show, The Price of Beauty.

"I couldn't have had this journey at a better time in my life -- to seek out beauty, to seek out confidence, and to seek out the power of a woman," says the singer, whose fluctuating weight has been criticized this year.

She insists she doesn't let the negativity bring her down.

Says Simpson, "It really is about who I am and what I want to become, and what's going to make the best version of myself."

    Good for her.

She should look for a man who will treat her right. While I am not a "fan" of Jessica's, I do feel sympathy and do not like it when people diss her; however, most "intellectual" men will either want an intellectual equal or someone very down to earth as a counter balance, who is willing to take care of all the practical matters and let him alone to "intellectualize". Good luck.

I'm in my 40's and I get bored!!!men are bad about limiting their brain to boobs and food so yea it helps to have a smart man

Jessica can say all she wants about what she wants in a man, its men who don't want Jessica. Jessica is what men don't want in a woman. A one night stand is all a man wants out of Jessica. So she is probably going to be alone for a long time.

Only kids get "bored." If an adult says they are bored, then that just shows their intellectual maturity. Grow up already.

I think peligrin's point came across clearly. Women like jessica shouldn't rely on men and their relationships to animate every aspect of their lives and give them an identity. I was going to add that if this is once again jessica's attempt to shake her ditzy image, it's not working. Truly intelligent people don't "bore out pretty easily", because they can always amuse themselves, and can confidently find happiness and inspiration from everyone around them. I wish jessica and her family would just step out of the spotlight because they're really bad role models for young girls.

Peligrin, you really shouldn't insult someone when it's your own lack of reading comprehension that causes you to pass judgment. She was referring to what she wants out of a man in a RELATIONSHIP, not out of life itself. In a RELATIONSHIP she wants an intelligent man because she can get bored in a RELATIONSHIP without that element. I'm emphasizing the word so you can't fail to comprehend it this time as you so clearly did the first time.

Jessica is not smart herself - she wants an intelligent man to do stuff for her because she can't think for herself. She is lucky to get where she is today - she has little talent in performance, but she is truly a dumb blonde.

Ah, the mentality of a weak woman. Jess, if you're bored and not intellectually stimulated - you need a book, not a man! And stop talking about your prospective dating life like it's shopping - if you treat men like superficial objects, don't be suprized when all you get are superficial relationships.

i really love Jess & wish her the best!!

I think actually Jessica is smarter than most folks think. She is now selling her purses on QVC and I bought one. She sells shoes and purses, etc at Macey's, she is the spokeperson for the Celebity's for this years Cancer Drive, She started operation smile to help others. Why do you not give her a chance. She is just a small town girl and she is at least trying to help others. She is worth more money wise than any of us will probably ever be - so how dumb is that????

Ugh. This is why I can't stand the woman. All she does is sit around all day eating snack foods waiting for her Prince to come to her doorstep.
