Kathie Lee Gifford: SNL Skit Isn't "That Funny"

Kathie Lee Gifford isn't cracking up over a Saturday Night Live skit that poked fun at her wacky antics as cohost of the Today show's fourth hour.
In the spoof (watch it here), Kristen Wiig portrayed Gifford as a boozy cohost (newcomer Jenny Slate played Hoda Kotb) and made fun of her "Everyone Has a Story" segment, in which Gifford salutes in song ordinary people who have surmounted extraordinary challenges.
When Wiig's Gifford began singing, it upset the members of the Black Eyed Peas (who made a cameo in the skit). Fergie threw a haymaker, Apl.de.ap dropped an elbow and Taboo even beat Wiig's Gifford with his new signature sneakers.

On the Today show Monday, Gifford squirmed as she watched the clip.
"Everyone seems to enjoy it ... but I don't think it's that funny," she said.

She got irked when Kotb remarked that Wiig can surprisingly carry a tune. Gifford shook her head emphatically, drawing an audible response from the Today show crew off-camera.
"Oh, it's OK to beat the crud out of me, that's fine," Gifford said. "But when I say I'm sorry, the woman can’t sing' – that’s a problem for you people?!"

She added, "I think I’m going to sue [Wiig] for ruining my song!"
Before the segment ended, Gifford took a shot at Wiig. "Can't she get another job?" she asked. "Go off and do something else?"

38Why would Kristen Wiig get another job? That quote is just another excellent example of what SNL was making fun of about KLG. By getting so upset about this she's only giving the SNL writers more to make fun of...then again, she is a total obnoxious joke.

All I will say about this is: It would be a lot funnier if it wasn't true. Period, end of discussion.
The real Kathie Lee Gifford should be pimp-slapped by the Black Eyed Peas. She is a sanctimonious, egotistical no-talent old hag who should have hung it up a long time ago. I once stopped viewing Regis because I could not put up with that great big fat rump stuck in her mouth. If she were to drown in her own pool of explosive diarrhea, maybe I would experience some satisfaction.
When KLG came back on TV on the TODAY show I was so excited and watched all the time. Then she always seemed to be dogging Hoda about finding a man and other put-downs. I saw the SNL skit and I LAUGHED so much because the actress embodied KLG perfectly! KLG, face reality and get over yourself. You get your laughs by cutting Hoda and others down all the time and need to be the center of attention. I wouldn't be surprised if NBC's research showed that people prefer Hoda to KLG. If I was NBC I'd ditch KLG and get Hoda another co-host -- maybe even a man! Give Hoda a new cohost for the new year -- I've enjoyed the show much more when Hoda had various cohosts when KLG was on vacation. Anyway, SNL NAILED-IT as far as KLG!! LOLOLOLOL!!
Is it me, or has Kathie Lee grown in the back end. Her bootie was actually looking quite tasty. And then gave a little 'pooch out' for the crowd when prompted. I did not think much of her b4 now. I now have a a new found respect for Ms Gifford. Mama is rollin' on Dubz!!!!!
Okay 'anonymous' is either a nutjob, loves Kathie Lee (which is probably the same thing)...or is one of her 11-teen kids. Wiig is the best actor on SNL in many many years - maybe best female since Gilda.
Kathie Lee really needs to get over herself. Isn't it strange she cracked up laughing when she saw Hoda being made fun of.. but was horrified when she was dumped on! I'm waiting for the day that Hoda walks off the show while it's on air. Hoda has more class in her baby finger compared to Kathy Lee .... not only that, but Kathy Lee has to giver her CD's away because no one will buy them.
Doc says-KLG is a worn out old cow that hawks her 1930s CDs on the show, their great for cleaning up cat litter, and has NO business sharing the same stage with Hoda. NBC, take KLG and Kelly Ripple back to the Hamptons, take their shoes and leave them there. A greatful nation will be forever thankful.
I am surprised by the number of people defending Kathie Lee here...shocked actually. One poster went as far as to say America loves Kathie Lee! Kathie Lee has to be one of the most annoying people on the planet, she is obnoxious, egotistical, self-absorbed and NOT FUNNY. They need to make fun of her every week.

I remember Kathie Lee on the Regis show. She was continually disparaging to people, forever insulting, and constantly making fun of people (all done in a "humerous" way, of course). She can dish it out but she can't take it.
"Can't she get another job? Go off and do something else?" Funny...I've said that about Kathie Lee for years.
Kathie Lee needs to obtain a sense of humor.
I think Kristen Wiig is hilarious and portrays KLG absolutely right on the mark.
