Taking it too far. A Halloween costume inspired by Kim Kardashian’s Paris robbery is being sold by online retailer Costumeish, and the internet is not having it.
The photo of the costume features a look-alike of the 35-year-old reality star gagged with her hands tied. According to the description on Costumeish.com, the $69.99 outfit also comes with a “white short sexy robe, long black wig, ‘$4 million dollar’ ring, large sunglasses, fake gag and 2’ of rope.”
“This Halloween it’s all about the #Hallomeme and who better than America’s goddess of all things glamorous ‘Parisian Heist Robbery Victim Costume?’” the explanation on the site reads. “She has devoted her life to promoting American decadence, youth and hedonism but all that flashy living caught up with her one night in Paris when armed men bound her, stole her jewelry and her peace of mind. This Halloween have some fun with pop culture and dress just like the Queen of Social media.”
Unsurprisingly, the costume has received tons of backlash on social media for being tasteless and insensitive. “The Kim Kardashian Halloween costume is beyond disrespectful #disgusting,” one tweeter wrote, while another added, “There’s a Kim Kardashian robbery victim Halloween costume – who in their right mind would buy something so pathetic and insulting.” Despite the outrage, Costumeish told Fox411 that the company has “no intentions of taking it down and it has been selling well.”
As previously reported, the Selfish author was robbed at gunpoint at Paris’ Hôtel de Pourtalès on October 3 when five men dressed as policemen stole more than $10 million worth of jewelry, including the enormous diamond ring recently gifted to her by her husband, Kanye West. She was gagged and tied up in the bathroom during the traumatic ordeal, but her rep told Us Weekly that she was “physically unharmed.”
“She thought there was going to be a sexual assault or that she was going to be killed in the bathroom,” a source previously told Us. “Kim was hysterically crying, begging for her life, telling them about her babies.”
Kim’s sister Khloé Kardashian addressed the terrifying incident for the first time on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday, October 11. “She’s not doing that well. It’s incredibly traumatic what happened to her, but our family is super close and great and we’ll get through it together,” Khloé, 32, said. “We do appreciate all of your guys’ love and support. It will take time. It was horrible what happened to her.”
