US: Tell me what you guys were doing here today.

LC: We got to fix up some of the on-call rooms which was really cool especially during the holidays. I think that all the doctors here work so hard to make everybody else so comfortable, it’s nice to be able to do something for them.

Emily: The doctors deserve this so when they come in they’ll feel welcome – they work so hard and have to stay overnight.

US: What was your inspiration?

Emily: We used her designs, and we made it so it was comfortable for them, and we put a group photo of all the doctors on the wall. We also did an art piece where we did fingerprints as the leaves on a tree and signed our names.

LC: A bunch of different patients put their fingerprints on it.

US: That’s great. Kind of reminds the doctors who they’re helping and what they’re there for. That’s cool. And tell me about the different elements you put in the room.

LC: We definitely wanted to make it a gender neutral room which was great to do with the line because the LC Lauren Conrad line does tend to skew more feminine, but it was nice to have the opportunity to put the pieces into a room that worked for men as well.

US: So you you did bedding, you did the bathroom, some Christmas décor – tell me about it.

Emily: We picked out the JOY sign that lights up – it’s cool and I loved the Christmas tree. And in the bathroom we picked really pretty towels with fringe on them and shower curtains.

US: And I know you mentioned that you’d love to do fashion or interior design one day and that Lauren’s one of your inspirations. That’s really great you got to work with her.

Emily: Oh yeah. It’s totally my style. I like all of her designs and how girly it all is! And I like to paint. I’m learning to make patterns.

US: Did you give her any advice?

LC: I told her school is great and she’s learning to sew she told me which is fantastic, I think learning the basics is really nice. And just experience, working within the industry and practicing skills so it’s great that she’s painting.

US: And how does it make you feel to help out here at Children’s Hospital – especially for these amazing doctors who do so much for so many people?

LC: This is by far one of my favorite things to do with Kohl’s. It’s so much fun. It’s fun to do and it’s great, especially during this time of year when you want to do nice things for people.

US: Of course. And what are you doing for the holidays?

LC: I’m doing nothing! Just spending it with my family, I’m not traveling or doing anything!

US: That’s so nice!

LC: Yeah! It was a big year so I just want to sort of relax, take time off, that’s all I want! Just laying low. No big plans.

US: It’s your first married Christmas! So will you do anything special to celebrate do you think?

LC: No, we already did Christmas with both families before – and we still will, they live like twenty minutes apart. So it’s great! So we do multiple Thanksgivings, Christmases – the whole thing.

US: How’s married life?

LC: I know! Everyone does ask that. It’s the same! It’s really nice but really, the same. [laughs] Things are good.
